Just got a new Tao tao 150 and I cant get the float bowl off,,looks like they sheared the screws off after they put bowl on,,anybody ever see this,,guess I need to get a new carb if I want to mess with jets or clean it,,other than that I can take a chance drilling them out,,could be a disaster.

Yep they always send the new ones like that you can take a die grinder and slot them and get them out the carbs are so cheap I just buy a new one its alot easyer

you can take a dremel and cutter wheel and slot the flat screws and remove them with a screwdriver and replace with real screws, and take a drill bit to the plate over the a/f screw. easier to just buy a new carb though, but if your broke and got the tools go for it.

Thanks guys planning on getting an upgrade anyway,,what size do you recommend,its stock,,might get exhaust,air cleaner,cdi,and sliders for it also. Tom

18-20mm work fine, im running a 20mm carb with my 50mm airsal kit exhaust and uni works fine

[replyingto=millsc]millsc[/replyingto]Ok sweet,,too hot out there to play around today,,from what I remember seeing,,the studs on the stock bowl where cut off so flush it would be hard to cut a slot in them...guess it will be a parts carb sooner than I think.

Well I drilled out the air/fuel mix cover and adjusted the mixture a little,,now it seems to run better,,before it wouldn't start when it was warm unless I gave it a little throttle,,not it starts right up cold ,warm,or hot just pressing the button.Also removed evap,relocated the tank vent with a fuel filter up high,starting to come along,,next week Ill install CDI,and order a new Gates power belt,,should have it as reliable as a Honda in no time...lol..yeah right
