I went to install a new variator and belt today, and everything went good at first but I knew it wouldn't last. The reason is that there was some spacer or collar that came out that was broken into three pieces, and in the included diagram, it doesn't show it. It was big enough to go around that thickest part toward the inside of the variator assembly area, as if to be put on first to be used as a spacer. It is also about 3/4 inch long; roughly the size of a socket, only much skinnier. This is not that main, thick sleeve that that belt touches, but something else. I also have a washer that I don't know where it goes. What I have right now is the setup shown here, and it's not right. It also would fit around the little sprocket thing above the variator, so I'm a bit confused. For one thing, when I went riding down the road, I made it about 3/4 mile and it sounded like the whole thing flew apart; there is a grinding noise. It didn't fly apart, but it's not right. 2nd clue: I believe the belt should be absolutely flush what that collar that the belt makes contact with before you put the final plate on; in my case, the belt was about 1/16th of an inch wider. Therefore, when you put the final variator plate on, it bends a little bit toward the rear of the scooter, where it's not contacting the belt. I know that's not right. I know I'm missing at least one part, probably two. Something should make that barrel stick out a little further so the belt lines up flush with it, width-wise. It's hard when the manual doesn't show the parts and I pulled the fragments of one part out of there (and don't really know where the washer goes because it's also not listed as you can see in this manual). Thank you for any help my friends. The Frawg is pinned to the board and fully cut open, and I can't stand not riding. It drives me batty! Attachments:

The belt sticking out a little further then the spacer is normal. U need to squeeze the belt between the variator and clutch to pull the belt further into the clutch pully this allows you to move the belt further up the variator and then you can tighten the variator face on straight. Hop u understand this.

That piece your talking about thin sleeve is probably the sleeve that goes over the BENDIX shaft sticking out and then it goes into a hole built in the inside of the CVT COVER to hold the bendix horizontial. If you did not align the bendix shaft into the CVT cover the bendix will be hitting the Variator Fan and making the metal racket and may have already damaged something. Alleyoop

Thank you guys. Alleyooop, you nailed it again. So those parts you see in the pic in my original post, those are correct except for the missing washer in the diagram that goes on just before the nut that holds the variator on? I'm not missing anything? (Is there any washer that goes on FIRST before any part of the variator gets put back on?) I gotta order the bendix sleeve.

Would this be the little bugger? It looks a little thick but maybe my broken one had just worn thin. Attachments:
