[replyingto=tvnacman]tvnacman[/replyingto]So I took the intake off and dumped gas down it while cranking and it started up! It only went for a second but it was the most glorious sound I've heard! Does this mean that I should get a new intake? Or possibly a whole new carb? What would you suggest?

Are you getting fuel to the carb ? if you are based on what is happening with the carb it seems like it has been tinkered with . I would replace the carb with a new one and use a new intake as well . Get some 3/16 fuel hose , get the fuel delivery and vacuum system tight .

sounds like the carb needs to be replaced or cleaned if its not one of those that has the sealed bowls. replaceing the vaccum and gas lines will help too. but the main problem seems to be the carb. I had the same problem with my taotao and replaced mine with a spare carb I had. started right up. I also gapped my valves to .003 for both even tho I have heard .004 will work but it wouldn't start with it gapped to .004

I do not like the way the fuel line is going up and down. You have the fuel tank above the carb behind the seat. That is a Gravity fed system and the fuel line goes down then up to the PETCOCK and then down and then up to the carb.
You need to have the fuel line go down from the tank to the carb. You should shorten that FUEL line going to the carb.
If it started when putting in fuel by hand it points to fuel delivery problem. So the first thing is to get the fuel line from the tank to the carb a little shorter and no ups and downs.
If still a problem then the carb pilot jet and its passage are most likely clogged and you need to take the carb off and clean out the PILOT JET make sure you can see daylight through it. Then spray carb cleaner into the hole and clear out the passage and the tiny fuel outlets by the butterfly. Alleyoop

Yeah, I'd definitely start with no carb on just to see if the problem is there or somewhere else. If you have some ether spra, brake cleaner, or starting fluid that would be a little more controlled method of dumping some fuel into the intake hole, but either way I'd figure that out while I'm waiting on the slowboat to deliver the missing bits.

SO my new carb should be in today...fingers crossed that it works. But in the meantime I have a question. I was looking for a replacement intake manifold and noticed that mine has two ports. Ive looked all over but havn't had much luck finding one with two ports. Is it possible to use an intake with one port and use a t-splitter in the vacuum line? And if so how would I hook that up? Or does anyone know of a place where I could get an intake with two ports?
