I have a 300cc linhai.. whenever I ride my bike on the highway over 65 I feel like I really have to hold on to the bike harder than usual.. I don't know how to explain but when I ride with my bf in the car and I see Harleys or sport bikes do 70 + mph without any problem and they do it so effortlessly... is it my weight or do I need a heavier bike? I'm 140 pounds ... also I think my top speed is around is it safe for the engine to run around 70-74 for miles on end? Thanks... What about a bigger windshield?

Yes it's safe assuming you have everything set right. What are your tire pressures at? When you say hold on tighter is because of the wind?? Try scooting your butt back further and leaning forward into the wind... Not sure exactly what's going on...

I don't think there's an issue... you certainly don't need a bigger bike lol. You're going against 65mph+ winds. If you didn't hold on tighter than you do at 30mph, there's a good chance you'd be blown off. It's just something you'll need to get used to, or travel lower MPH roads.

Then yes make yourself more aerodynamic. Maybe a taller windscreen would be good

Thanks guys.... im going to go on the highway in the next few days at night with no traffic so I can practice.
Is it okay on my engine to run so close to its top speed?

I used to ride sport bikes all day long in speeds excess of 185 mph,,most of the time we where thumping along between 60- mph,,at the end of the day I was very tired from the wind.

Should be fine at that speed keep your maintenance up. The engine is likely tuned far tamer than it is capable

First do you have the stock tires ? Many come with not so good of a tire so when they wear down replace with a premium brand like Pirelli , Michelin or Dunlop . Scooters do not come with the tires balanced as to why you feel a shimmy or vibrate when going fast . I had my stock tires balanced on my Echarm and WOW major improvement when going highway speeds . I have twin rear shocks and I turned the damper all the way to the firmest position as the shocks are rather wimpy for a 286lb dry weight scooter with me being 200 lbs on it . I feel safe almost at any time but once I hit 60 it gets weird and when I hit 70+ outright skeery at times . I have been 160 MPH on a Hurricane 1000 and when I had a TaoTao ATMa 50 when going at top speed I was more nervous as it was no where as stable . When I ride at low or cruising speeds I sit up right . If I want to go fast I duck down like the skiers on the huge ramp in the Olympics ( forgot the events name ) , so that the air flows over me rather than into me .
Trust me get your tires balanced or at least new ones when you replace them and you will be glad you did

On my BMS260 with top speed of just over 80MPH, I felt comfortably riding 75MPH; probably do 70MPH all day long.

In addition to better tires, replace the stock tire valves to the bolt-through-the-rim kind (available from Kurvey Girl) As the Chinese OEM valves are press fit and can be pulled out by centrifugal force at higher speeds. kurveygirl.com/shop/index.php?cPath=169

(and with less maintenance issues)

Sometimes your helmet will give you that effect. A half or an open faced helmet can catch a lot of wind putting pressure on your neck, shoulders and arms causing you to have to grip harder to stay in control. Consider a full face helmet if you don't already ride with one. You should be just looking over the top of a motorbike windshield not through it so resist the urge to get a barn door style whindshield as they can negatively impact the stability of your bike especially with a light rider on it. Being of slight build you may need to just work at increasing your hand and arm strength. Like any new activity you will have to get those muscles accostomed to the increased wind pressure that you get riding over 60 mph. Consider that on a GY6 bike it takes about 10 hp to get you to 60 mph however to make it the next 30 mph to you need about 25 hp, more than double what it took to get to 60 and to make the next 30 mph to 120 you will need about 80 hp. This is because dynamics of air really begin to multiply once you get past 60 mph.
