howdy, oregon is talking up the idea of taxing all vehicles by the mile and that the tax would be the same for every vehicle. that is, the tax per mile would be the same for a pick-up or a scooter or an electric vehicle. that might make me reconsider the comfort factor and safety factor compared to the costs.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

On the navy base I work, the base security requires GOLF CARTS to have seat belts fastened! Ours goes 15mph-20mph GPS VERIFIED LOL Maybe if we had a BBK in that thing and some racing gas, that thing would FLY! I kid I kid There is a different speed regulator chip you can change out to make golf carts go faster. Well, right now my engine case has a hole with a metal bar protruding out of it, so that's preventing me from riding. Permanent stop riding? I guess if I lost a leg or an arm then I would have a harder time. Maybe if I had road rash or a scary accident I would seriously not ride for a long time.

Workman's Comp case made me stop riding for over a year. Torqued up my "good" knee, then a couple weeks later is when I slid out in that roundabout. Realised if I would've hurt my leg, the WC agent would've dropped my case.
Now I'm on a sort of stand-by in my case. So might as well ride, eh?

Exactly nothing else will keep me off 2 wheels. Anyone who thinks seatbelts on bikes is safe needs a physics lesson

Old age, slow reflexes and poor balance may do it for me one day. Hopefully it's STILL a ways off though.Gotta give those "law-makers" credit... They use our own tax money to screw us over. Then they give themselves a nice pay raise for the "wisdom" of their shenanigans. Back in the sixties in Illinois when they enacted their first helmet law, they talked about a seat-belt requirement for bikes... Duh... The helmet law was later repealed when it came out that one of the lawmakers had big holdings in a helmet manufacturer's company. Later on the law came back and stuck. With electric powered vehicles getting more and more perfected, the move to tax EVERYTHING including bicycles by the mile is making the bottom-feeders in office positively salivate. Some enterprising guy has even figured out how to equip new vehicles with a device that would simply electronically deduct an amount ($1.50 was a "suggested" starting-point, to "test the waters") from your bank account, each time you start your engine. Of course, the "device" would by law, be capable of being installed on your old, existing vehicle, for maybe a token fee of, say $500. Boy would THAT cut down on "beer-runs"... LOL! Tax and spend... TAX AND SPEND, SPEND, SPEND...There are VERY few things you can be absolutely sure of these dark days, but one fact is for certain. If you drive ANYTHING that burns little (or NO) gas, our current elected "leaders" (and I can gripe. I SURE didn't vote THIS posse into office... LOL!) will find a way to tax you triple to pay the oil cartels for the gas you didn't use. Welcome to "Camelot"...Leo (exercising my right to vote, gripe and drive a little) in Texas
