I have a DC CDI that looks like this. The connector doesn't look anything like the vast majority of CDIs out there and it has only 4 wires going to it. I'd like to go with a performance CDI and I'm not sure how to rewire it to match the more common style CDI connector. Has anyone done this before?

tv, I have him checking the wiring harness at www.roketapartsdept.com (I just thought you might have one laying around, I'll let you know after he checks that site out if he would be interested in having you look into getting one.)

ok , I can help here . I need for you to post the following : on the ignition coil what are the wire colors ? at the stator harness what are the wire colors ? The black and red wire on the cdi plug are you sure it is dc cdi (please check with a meter) ?
once we get the facts I can send you the plugs to splice to the scooter harness .
What size engine , branding ?
do you have an electric fuel pump ?

Hi tv,
My scoot is a roadrunner by iscooter. It's a 250cc horizontal engine and I have just the basic vacuum fuel pump(switch) between the gas tank and the carb (no electric pump).
I measured the black/red wire and I get 13 vdc when the kill switch and key are on. I'm having a hard time uploading a picture of the existing ignition coil right now but the black/yellow wire is there and a second all black one (Gnd?). The wiring going to the stator is insulated right up to the connector so I can't see/take a pic of it without stripping the black insulation back but since we have the other wires accounted for that should be the Blue/Yellow one correct?

ok I have the harness plugs , you should be able to match up the wires to splice them to your scooters harness for plug and play .

I have a whole harness , I would cut the plugs off and ship them . The only change would be , you will not use the black/white wire . Then the red/white on the new plugs would connect to your blue/white . Just add grounds to the extra green . Check the green/white on your harness should be ground (make sure) .

Ok, got my new CDI, Ignition coil, and plug wire in and the first thing I did was to try the ignition coil and plug wire to determine if it was the CDI or not and I had the same symptoms (weak erratic spark). Next I installed the new CDI. I had to rewire it as discussed with tvanacman and all of that went well. I double checked everything to make sure I made no mistakes. My red/black wire has 0vdc on it with the kill switch and key off and 12.7vdc with it on, the green/white wire ohmed out to ground, the black/yellow wire runs stright to the ignition coil (I ohmed it out to be sure), and the blue/yellow wire runs to the stator harness and has ~0.5vac when I'm trying to crank the engine and 0vac when its just sitting there. So I put the sparkplug in the boot and held the metal to the frame and turned on the key and kill switch and I'm getting a weak spark without even trying to crank. When I do crank the spark looks awesome (just like the video in my other post). I measured the feed from the CDI to the ignition coil and I get about 5vac with just the key and kill switch on and something like 17-30vac when I'm cranking. I would think it should be zero vac without the trigger but I'm not sure.
My questions are why would I be getting 5vac without a trigger from the pickup coil (I verified it isnt present) and why is 5vac enough to cause a spark? I've read where less than 15vac or so shouldn't be enough to fire the plug.
I havent tried turning the engine over with it like this as I wanted to resolve this issue first. The spark I'm seeing with just the kill switch and the key on is very similar to what it looked like before when i was trying to crank (erratic and weak).
Any help here would be appreciated.
