Yes, I'm new and don't understand, Why do people buy a 50cc, then spend another $200 +/- for another 4 or 5 mph? Why not just get a 150cc instead?
I understant the initial cost of my$699, but after the upgrade is it cost effective? It may be the 'accountant' in me, but I just don't understand.

Some may be restricted to a moped if their driving license is suspended and they are so slow restricted as one needs to tweak it in order to avoid getting ran over on the 4T 50s

Hi I take great joy in modding and performance tuning all of my vehicles And the gains are much more then a few mph over stock speeds My Red Streak cc 4 t scoot runs in the 54 to 55 mph range quite easily My "April" runs 60 to 65 mph and after some new upgrades and serious tuning should be in the 70 to 75 mph range I take great joy in seeing what i can accomplish Take care and ride safely Yours Hank

The reason I did it is its fun to make it go fast and fairly cheap.
And here in newmexico you dont have to have it registered no insurance no helmet no motorcycle lic only if its 49cc and lower

Well, I got my 50cc trike because I don't need to deal with the 3 T's: taxes, titles, and tags. I do have insurance though. I love to mod and tinker to get the most out of small engines that can be had. This little trike is my tinker toy, most mods for it are fairly cheap. I got the larger 300cc To go on longer trips and keep up with traffic on roads of 45mph and higher. Not much modding can be done to these larger engines, so that takes some of the fun out of it for me.

Yeah, for most it's because they can't or don't want to deal with all the paperwork involved in >49cc scooters. In Fl for instance, you need a motorcycle endorsement for a 150cc. Modding a 49cc to a 50+cc actually is illegal, and requires the person to get the paperwork done of a >49cc scooter, but it's quite difficult to trace or prove. And about everyone here agrees that a 4T 50cc is too slow to be used in traffic. It goes fast enough, but accelerates too slow. So an increase of 50% (75cc), or even 33% (66cc) is a big deal in acceleration, eventhough the scooter does not get that much of a better top speed.

That is another reason I made mine faster its nice to have a little more power to pull out into traffic and sometimes needed in traffic. I forgot to mention if you get caught by the police going over 35 you must register it and the fastest speed limit in town is 35 so no big problem

In FL it is 40MPH, however, I've gone 50MPH, and no one's stopping me. Those 50cc scoots look like 150cc scoots; and here in FL police usually don't bother with them (which is the way it should be).
