Sup all,
Just saying hey! Used to participate a little bit on ScootDawg forum, never was a real prolific poster or anything, but enjoyed reading. Good people and excellent tips.
Have a 2006 Linhai 300 SuperStrada scooter, and put 5,000+ miles on it with few problems. Bought it when it only had 1,100 miles. I decided on it being an ok purchase from reading around the forums, ScootDawg included. And it has proven pretty reliable, never having left me stranded...yet.
Sure, I'd love a burgy if I had the bucks, but I don't. I am in full agreement with those that say- "If you must go Chinese because you can't afford Japanese or Korean, then look at Linhai. Pretty much the best of the Chinese stuff."
I've had a blast on this thing, and taken many, many long trips into the mountains on it. Plenty of power, pretty smooth ride, and with a good set of Michelin Pilot Sports, handles excellent through turns, even at high speeds. Very centered, make-you-feel-confident-and-you-can-lean cornering. Recommended.
Problems: Screws on chrome plate covering muffler work loose. Not a show stopper. Fit on body panels not the greatest. Who cares, I need the engine to get me there and back, and that it does extremely well. Speedometer has given me some trouble, but works. Just sticks at 55. That's a good thing. Over that is too dangerous anyway.
Mods: I wired up both the headlights to work at same time, in both low and high beams, and I love the lighting now. Plenty enough. Bought the high windshield, a rear box with frame, and a saddle bag I keep on the rear seat. Trimmed out windshield and fenders with chrome edge guard- looks cool.
It seems people are hanging on to them for the most part, and they are hard to find used, at least in my area. Not a single one on Ebay as I type this.
Anyway, good to be back, and riding season is here! Miles and Smiles to yas!

Yeah, but can you get them back off if you need to? Reason I ask, cause eventually might need to replace the muffler.

Good to have another member from SD! Sounds like a great scooter you've got there. Which mountains are you talking about riding it through?

Good to have another member from SD! Sounds like a great scooter you've got there. Which mountains are you talking about riding it through? Asheville area- in other words, the parkway, north and south, Brevard, into Flat Rock, and of course...Lake Lure here and there. 74A is kinda fun on all those curves! Might try that high temp locktite, and thanks for the warm welcome folks.

Ohhh awesome! I used to live near Boone and went to college at WCU. Having been up and down the state's mountains, I definitely think the Balsams and the area from Mt. Mitchell south are where it's at. I think it's Black Balsam that I really like, around milepost 420-421 on the Parkway. I'm super jealous I don't live there anymore and aren't out there scooting around with you!!!

I had a riding buddy, in fact he was a member at ScootDawg too (but didn't post much), and he developed a very serious medical problem, several surgeries, almost died- ended up disabled for life. So I don't know if he's going to be able to ride at all again- and if he does, those trips will be very limited. So yeah, I'm kinda looking for someone else in the area to get out with once in a while. Anyone close in the Asheville area, don't be shy. Hit me up!

Yeah, but can you get them back off if you need to? Reason I ask, cause eventually might need to replace the muffler. That's why you get the medium strength (Bolts back out with tools.)
