What are the effects of putting too much oil in scooter? I just changed oil and it is pretty full.

Hi Over filling your oil can cause power loss and possible engine damage When overfull the oil can get whipped into a foamy substance and clog the oil passages Take care and ride safely dear friend Yours Hank

Now when you think about it, you can only really overfill it about 1oz maybe 2 but at that point it will start to come out of the fill hole.
Most will blow out the excess oil out of the VALVE COVER vent hose. But if you overfill it get something to suck out some of it from the fill hole. Have a BASTER handy in the garage or where ever they have small BASTER as well usually in any Grocery store. Alleyoop

when I changed the oil I put too much in and had to drain it then refill

Yea, save yourself some work and just get a little baster suck the overfill 1,2,3.
Now if you screw the oil stick in and pull it out IT SHOULD COVER all the XXXXXs. But if you just put it in without screwing it down it should ONLY COVER HALF of the XXXXXs. Alleyoop

A sip more and you may be fine but too much will increase the pressure and it will have to go somewhere when it blows a seal ETC .
I worked a Jiffy Lube and a 300Z came in sounding sorta like a Diesel . His " buddy " changed the oil for him but did not know how much to put in . He kept pouring in oil until he could see it instead 4.5 quarts . Well it took forever to drain it and had the get the rocker arms retorqued .

Hi Most of us agree that with a 4 t engine, the dipstick should read halfway up and not screwed in all the way, if screwed in all the way then all the xxx,s should be covered Take care and ride safely my friend Yours Hank

I've ran my taotao ATM50 with oil above the dipstick and nothing ever happened. I also was afraid, that it would damage the engine. I once filled it up almost to where I could see the oil. Like alleyoop says, some of the excessive oil gets thrown out of the engine while riding. I don't know how your scoot would do when you fill the oil all the way to the top of the dipstick hole, however, should that ever be the case, I'd suggest you to put an oil pan under it, and tilt the scoot, so the oil can run out. If it's still too much, just carefully open the bottom, until where the oil starts leaking out.

A bit unrelated, but perhaps you can help, as you have a 50cc TaoTao...will this scooter at least half-way comfortable carry two people? I'm 160 lbs, and my wife is 120lbs. We won't be using the scooter to go more than a few miles to Miami Beach. Thanks!
