Got a brand new scooter, never been started. Tried the kick start a few times, but waiting on the starter relay to come in that was missing when I got it. Noticed small oil leaks under it at the rear of the assembly that holds the air filter. Noticed a very small amount on the frame it was shipped on as well. I know the air filters get oil put on them. Is that what this is? From trying to kick start it? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Attachments:

Take the CVT cover off May be the Tranny Drain is there and it is leaking. Alleyoop

The cvt cover is the chrome area, correct? If so the oil isn't coming from there. It is coming out at the rear of the plastic where the air filter is. Didn't want to take it off until I knew what I was getting into.

Sorry your right I did not take a good look, it could be either of two things: 1. The tranny VENT HOSE is attached to the Air Box and they overfilled the tranny and spitting out. 2. The Valve Cover Vent hose is also usually attached to the AIR BOX and that is also spitting out oil.
So yes take the Air Box cover off and see where the oil is coming from. If it is the VALVE COVER vent hose that is usually attached at the front of the AIR BOX. If that is the one you will see oil flowing from the front of the AIR BOX to the low end.
If not then look for the TRANNY VENT HOSE which would be near that section of the AIR BOX. Alleyoop

Probably just overfilled with oil and it has to go somewhere. The only one that is a problem would be the Crankcase OIL always spitting out due to much pressure. Check that hose to make sure it is not KINKED or bent which would not allow the CRANKCASE TO VENT and check the OIL LEVEL.
The tranny squirting out is nothing it will eventually stop when it squirts out the over filled portion, same with the crankcase oil IF it is overfilled or was overfilled.
So clean everything up and just keep an eye on it. Alleyoop

Mant times Scoots get laid on there side when shipped. As you know 4 strokes engines are filled with oil...lay it flat on its side and it can leak from several places. When I sold Scoots I would occasionally get a few they shipped on their side. Your foam oil filter should not be oiled...that reduces airflow. It should be dry. UNI filters and other racing type filters get oiled..but with a special oil...NOT motor oil. Pull the filter cover and get the oil puddle out of there...and while in there..give it a quick eyeball for anything odd. If they forgot to install a starter relay..God only knows what else they may have forgot. If you see anything you think is unusual..post a pic so we can tell ya if it is ok or not.

Thanks a lot you guys. I will check things out tomorrow. Finding this forum gives me a lot of piece of mind about getting one of these guys. Learned a lot already and I think I can probably get to the point of being able to troubleshoot and fix it by myself without too much of a learning curve.
