Hi, I'm thinking of buying a new Road Warrior. Any members have one and could tell me the good and bad. I talked to Jim at Rapid Repair and he was a big help now I would like to hear from members that own them. Thank You.

I don't own one but others that have or had them complained about not having much of a top speed. The Trike is heavy and it is only 248cc basically you have 2 125cc motors on there so you will have good low end torque but nothing on top also they complained about chaning gears and having a wide turning ratios. But they did say it is sharp looking and definitely needs more power. Alleyoop

New here but have read over just about everything I can find on the Road Warrior and really have got nothing. There is a lot of talk about mods to it but no information. A couple of questions I have are: 1) What size chain 2) What type of sprocket front and rear to try and change ratio 3) Need parts and can't find more than one place that can even answer any questions If anyone can give me any info it would be appreciated.
Thank you

No information!!! The information given is that there are some major problems with them. The only thing going for them is that they are pretty cool looking but everything else is not so good. As far a your questions, for chain size and Sprockets front and rear, not even the people that work at ICE BEAR would be able to tell you. They would have to either get that info from the manufactuer or someone go and count the teeth on the front sprocket and rear sprocket. The chains on those and many of their trikes are 428 or 528. Also they have the independant suspension which have major problems with them. That rear end on them are the same as the first MAGNUM Trikes they are independant Trannys that drive the rear axles which have lots of problems. Just so you know they changed the motors on the magnums now the tranny is part of the motor not standalone. Alleyoop

The information on that link is old and out dated. The road warrior rear was like the 2nd generation Magnum, most of those rear end problems were caused by improper adjustment ( or none at all ) of the reverse cable. The road warrior no longer comes with reverse, www.icebearatv.com/product/ptz250-1-h?main_product=459, show the diff gears now. It is still an independent suspension. The chain is a 530. As far as the tooth count I am not sure, but did have a customer tell me he was able to change the front gear with a different count from Yamaha. I have not personally tryed it. Flyboys quote "The engine in your bike is made by Lifan and is an exact copy of the Yamaha Virago 250 engine. The Yamaha manual and parts will work just fine." Is correct, not sure if all Yamaha parts will work, I have heard of people using yamaha parts, esp the carbs, on the RW. Where it is true that the RW is not a speed demon, it does go up and down the road and that is what some are looking for, besides the looks. Here is a pic of a RW with different wheels and tires adapted to it. Increase his top speed by 5 MPH He also changed his exhaust to screaming eagle shorty mufflers. I also have a customer in the works of changing his motor to an 883 Harley, he does have to raise the frame backbone up about 2 inches to fit, but he is sure he can do it.

Thanks Jim, the chain size at least lets me know what area to start looking in for sprockets. I do know the front sprocket is 15t but looks awful close to the block, wasn't sure if there was room for anything bigger. I have had this thing for well over a year now and I like it. Just like others have said you have to do some work to make things right but all in all I am having fun with it. Thanks for the info as stated it gives me somewhere to start.

I know I read on here somewhere about jetting the carb. I do have a question on how to get the carb apart. Mine has what looks like rivets on the float side and I don't want to drill them out because I don't know if I can purchase bolts to put it back together. If anyone knows of a kit or something to replace them it would be great to know.

There is a tool called grab-it available at hardware stores that will do the job of removing those tamper proof screws. The tool has a small drill bit on one end and an easy out on the other, works with a reverse drill. You can also get replacement screws at the hardware store also.

Still trying to figure some things out. I rejetted my carb from a 110 to 120 then to 125 and then to 130 with all of them I get a miss at WOT. Any suggestions on maybe fixing this? I cut the spring in the carb also if that make any difference.
