I ask this to myself quite often, really. Do the piston rings really need to re-seat after taking the cylinder off? If so, is that a major or minor problem?
The only time I've taken the cylinder off is a rebuild. It's safe to say that anyone doing a Big Bore Kit(aka BBK), wouldn't have to worry about that. What if you feel you need to check your piston rings, and pull the cylinder off?
I have questions after questions about it. It's an ENGINE, it's an important question. Every little piece of our scoot has a purpose.

If you reuse the cylinder and rings, there is no breakin period. If that's what you meant.

No need to rehone cylinder. Just leave the rings in there position. Slap it back together. Oil consumption maybe alittle for few hundred miles.
