I would get an armored cable lock and a disc lock with alarm instead if it was me
Never understood the appeal of remote starting a scoot in fact any vehicle, seems like an invitation to thieves

remote starters will kill the motor if you try driving it for scooters (giving throttle or pressing brakes i believe) unless you put the key in the ignition on cars it will kill the vehicle if the key isnt in the car for push start or without the key in ignition in on mode right before you would turn it to start and try to put it in to gear. i have nothing to chain it to and people will literally pick up the bike not try starting it or anything and put it in a vehicle like a van or truck so i want somthing sensitive and loud

There's seriously nothing whatsoever to chain your scoot to? Tree? Street sign? Lamp? Fence? Neighbour's car? Nothing??
If they're picking up scoots, then I've a feeling an alarm won't do a whole lot. They can pick it up and toss it in the back and be gone, all before you can run outside. Someone had posted a vid of just how fast a scooter can be stolen. Scary.
I agree with Hank, find something--ANYthing--to chain it to. Along with an alarm etc.

Hank, for those of us living in cold climates, remote start on your car is nice for getting it warmed up (and a bit snuggier inside, too). I think most, the doors stay locked. I know in Olathe and OP, it's illegal to leave your car running with the keys in the ignition, but okay if it's remote-started and locked.

Im told those motion sensing alarms are way too sensitive. Id be more worried about vandalism from pissed off people hearing it go off all the time.

You can get the front disc lock that sounds a alarm if moved and it lock the front tire from turning also

2 things from a scoot parts/repair shop owner and owner of 3 scoots that had remote start and alarm. 1. Whether armed or disarmed...the remote start and alarm will drain your battery. Why? Not sure..just the Chinese design I guess...but they will drain your battery. 2. People are so used to the sound of scoot...motorcycle or car alarms..they pay no attention. I know for a fact you yourself have been at a store...shop etc. when a car alarm went off. What happened?...NOTHING folks just continued on with their business.  As for remote start..only thing they are good for is...When ya come out of Wal Mart..somebody is putting stuff in their vehicle...you are 50-75 feet away...so you remote start it and watch them look at the Scoot with nobody there!! ?..that thing started all on it's own!! Used to do that all the time.. we all need a good snicker now and then. Other than that..remote start is a useless battery drainer. Unless of course you want to warm the engine and interior of your Scoot and get the windshield defrosters working. But none of my Scoots ever came with an interior or windshield with defroster... ;D I use a Kryptonite cable and super thick lock to secure it to the 'Cart Corrals. Just cable locking the front or rear wheel is useless...as I have had several stolen. All it took was 2 average size men...pick it up...put it in a Van or Truck and they now are the proud owners of a new Scoot.  |

if i park it on the side of the street i can chain it to a pole but there is an under ground parking but it has no garage door so people can kind of come and go but my buddy has the parking spot right below my apartment window and said i could park behind him nothing to chain it to there but i am protected by his car and if the alarm goes off i can hear it then

I use disc locks and heavy cables for traveling with logging chain at home . CycleGear has many locks as does Walmart in the bicycle section . I also use Masterlock Ubolt locks that go through the wheels which are forged steel . I used them when I rode mountain bikes . I broke some bolt cutters testing to see how strong it is and it took forever with a hacksaw to cut it . I use so many locks that even MacGyver would have trouble . Yes it is a lil bit of a hassle but gives me peace of mind as so many scooters are stolen . Most of these thieves are dopers that want an easy steal . Power tools would make alot of noise but not as much as my Tarus Judge with 45 and 410 shells mixed

A buddy has an alarm with remote start and a dog can make it go off by being too close and yes it does draw from the battery . A mean dog can help at home . Paint it hot pink and no " gangsta " would want to steal and ride it LOL

im not really worried as long as the battery doesnt die over night or anything and i could probably wire in a hidden switch to turn off the alarms power when riding so the battery can charge

i will be riding it every day i just sold my truck because 8mpg is no good when you live down town and only have to go 9 miles to work and can take streets that only go up to 30 mph the whole way so it will be ridden a lot and will not just be sitting for extended periods of time with the alarm on

A trickle charger around 1/2 amp will help in the winter as there is quick connect adapters for them .
Some stores do not mind parking on the sidewalk as long as its not in the way of the door or sales display . I do that or cable up to a shopping cart return bin
