Cross-cutted thread? Melted thread? This bolt came from my center stand as I realized that I could not tighten it all the way and that it moved in the same direction as the stand when I propped my scooter up (which I do not think I should normally do). Anyone know if I should continue to use this bolt or should I definitely replace it with a new one? Also, would I need to replace the center stand also (which supposedly also contains threads that may be just as messed up?)? Attachments:

Stripped thread. Definitely replace, and while you're at it check all your other bolts and replace any more damaged ones.

Would you use a used condom? Replace it. No need to replace the entire stand Use some larger washers on each side of the bolt/nut/head.
And, I agree with going over the whole bike and tighten everything up.

Yes... I'm not sure which is worse.. Chinese plastic or Chinese metal.

If that is the bolt the stand pivots on then it is most likely the wrong bolt for the application anyway as it should be a shoulder bolt with no threads where the stand pivots on it. Regardless it needs replacing.

This is why I yanked out all the bolts and replaced them with stainless steel ones from the UK.

Hmmm....
Looks just like the ones that came out of mine! They really SHOULD have a non-threaded "shoulder" but the Chinese don't seem to think that way... LOL! I lost one of mine and found out when I went to put the scoot on the center-stand. I went to the local Lowe's and got some grade-8 bolts (a little longer) and nuts. I managed to carefully get them all the way through without destroying the threads, then put nuts on the back with thread-locker. No trouble since, but nowadays, I'm VERY careful how I put the scooter on the stand. Lift hard on the back-rack, step hard on the center-stand assist and EASE the scooter back. I try to put as little stress as possible on the stand and its parts, since I see they are a weak spot.
No running backwards and letting the scooter's momentum carry it "over the hump" to skid on the stand a foot or so... LOL! With a little practice, they go right up and on the stand with minimal effort or stress on the stand's marginal parts.
Those grade-8 bolts will still be there after the scooter has been turned into a planter...
Ge gentle...
