I'm really torn between these two bikes... at about the same price, I'm definitely getting more power output with the SC250.
When I go down the differences and overall build quality, I've really gotta hand it to Honda. Holy crap is that a nice sexy bike! So this is what I've come up with
Aprilia SC250
Pros :
* Significant increase in power at top speeds of over 80mph * The seat appears to be more comfortable
Cons :
* This vehicle will be used, I will have to purchase a separate warranty * Accessory market is not nearly as large * Unsure of resale value.
Honda PCX150
Pros :
* Look at this fricken thing!! * The instrument panel is gorgeous * Huge 25gal underseat storage * The motor on this bike purrs in comparison * 102 mpg
Cons:
* That hump in the seat may cause an issue with a passenger * Bike will top out at somewhere between 62-65mph * I almost don't WANT to add a top case fearing what it might look like! lol
My primary driving will consist of 35mph to 60mph terrain as I live in the Clearwater Beach area. Long distance travel around here almost always has 55-60mph "back" roads.

I like the looks of the PCX150 more, but I sure would hate to give up 100cc.

Depends on what you're going to be doing with it. If you're headed down the highway you'll want the extra horses. But I can understand the love for the Honda. (a beautifully crafted machine.) I used to have a Honda 125 and that Scoot never broke down either!

The honda is a beautiful bike, but I'd go with the 250. Can you test drive the 150 to see if it's up to the speeds you want to do? Are you going to be riding 2 up alot?
What about the length of the trips you are going to take would the comfy seat make up for the other shortcommings on the Aprilla?
Resale value is generally good on Piaggio's and Aprilla's but are execlent on the Honda's. The fit and finish on Honda's is pretty tough to beat as well.

You might want to check this out first (then order some mod parts)

If you want to freeway ride, your only choice is the Sport City. I love the PCX though and if I was not planning on regular over 55mph running I would go with the PCX. It is just too neat. Even at the same price but far more power for the Sport City, if it is just running around town I take the Honda, but that is just personal preference, mostly having to do with the my love for Hondas and how cool it looks.
Then down the road when you want a long hauler, you add the used Burgman 400 to the stable and you're done!

You might want to check this out first (then order some mod parts) I am not calling this dude in the video a liar on his speed claims with the mods, but my understanding from the PCX threads on another board, the bike will do 65 for most owners stock. The motor has a little more in it but the bike is limited by I think the computer. I am not sure what it measures, (output of speedo? speed sensor or engine rpm?) but I don't understand how a new variator and belt would counteract the computer controlled limiter and do in the 70's. From some of the threads I read, people could improve the acceleration but could not get past the computer limit of 65mph except for some shops in Aisa that were reflashing it to remove the limiter. But maybe that has changed.....

It looks like he's in love with the PCX, but the 250 would be the more practical ride. (not that the Aprilia is anything to turn your nose up at.)

I won't hesitate to ride the Interstate from Clearwater to Sarasota (via the Skyway), Clermont, Floral City, Wauchula, Orlando, or St Augustine on my Sport City 250 having already done so a number of times and am even considering a run to Mayberry (Mount Airy), NC or the Florida Keys.
Just be aware that the sweet spot for fuel economy on the 150 is usually around 30 mph so with that said on my intown commute to work I got around 50 to 55 mpg with my old 150 running on roads like Keene and 580 (Main Street) while with the Sport City 250 I get between 65 to 80 mpg (gotta lay off the throttle and pulling out a few block ahead of the rest of traffic at the lights).
I added the Aprilia 35L top case and contacted Super Bike Toy Store in Stuart, Florida to get a Puig Sport Fairing for the Sport City and it was $100.58 delivered to my door. The lighting on the Sport City is great using automotive H7 55 watt lamps with 1 high and 1 low beam while both come on in the passing light mode. My daughter said they were like lasers buring the back of here head the last time I followed her car at night. At 2 years the low beam finally burnt out and I replaced it with a Sylvania/Osram Xtravision which is even better.
One other thing to consider is capacity. The Sport City as is the case with most Aprilia Scooters is rated to carry 460lbs and will do so at interstate speeds.

[replyingto=wolf39us]wolf39us[/replyingto]I too like the looks of the Honda; kinda cross between scoot and crotch rocket IMO. And you certainly will have more dealers to choose from when looking for parts/service. I recently traded up to the SportCity Cube from a Kymco People 150 to get more top-end speed for occasional highway jaunts, and for the fuel injection. Most of my use is for errands and I think that's where the SC is superior to this Honda scoot. The SC retains the compactness that I liked in the Kymco as well as the flat deck (floorboard) and bag hanger. I was often hauling bags of cat litter or grass seed on the deck of the kymco and I intend to do the same with the Aprilia once it arrives. The under-seat storage looks similar between the Honda and SportCIty and I'm sure both can have a topcase installed. Same with a small pair of saddlebags. As for quality, I seem to recall reading that most of these Honda scooters aren't actually manufactured by Honda but by 3rd parties. I don't know where this Honda is built or who builds it but it certainly looks well constructed. The Aprilia SC is/was made in Italy by I guess the same people building the other Piaggio scoots. That's not always the case: the Aprilia Scarabeo 200 is made in China. It too looks nice but who knows how well it'll hold up. Anyways, yet another opinion from the ethers
