My dealer sent me a new starter since mine does not engage on occasions and the one they sent me came with the wiring attached. There is an extra green wire that my current setup doesnt have. I hooked up the starter to the existing wire on the bike and it works fine but whats the deal with the extra wire?

probably a ground wire. But I'm in no way an expert with these bikes. Usually green does mean ground in electrical circles. Try it out with a multimeter.

Yes that is a ground wire, you can attach it to the frame the motor is bolted onto. That is good you will then have a backup Ground wire to the motor. Alleyoop
