You believe right Alley, But I am talking about the rear differential that the chain drives at the axles. The miter gears on the axles, ect

The 4 miter gears in the differential I do not know but they are pretty small. But if you think they are shot they sell just differential as one piece. Alleyoop

It is making a loud clunking sound. I haven't tore it apart yet. So I'm not sure what is wrong. I will give Jim a call this week and see how much it'll cost me for a rear end. I could have the shop make me one but It'll probably cost more and take about a month. It would be of better quality though. They make gears and parts for our machines at work. With the new stroker engine I'm fixing to put in it, the extra torque may just tear it apart. so I might as well go with a new one. Plus the bearings have already chewed into the tube once.

Thanks for thinking of me. I will be here all week, may even get snowed in again. Snow in the middle of April, what a bummer

The are called spider gears. It puts the "Diff" in Differential.

The are called spider gears. It puts the "Diff" in Differential. Yes they are called spider gears, But if you want to get technical they are actually just bevel gears. Roy

Just a small question on the side, How much MPH and MPG you get out of a 50cc trike? (I'd estimate 25-30MPH, 80MPG)?

Just a small question on the side, How much MPH and MPG you get out of a 50cc trike? (I'd estimate 25-30MPH, 80MPG)? Depends on If I'm going uphill or downhill. Your estimates are correct with a 50cc engine. I have a 72cc engine with E.F.I installed, And can get 45mph on level ground. 35mph is average, but will loose up to 10mph up a good hill. I have hit 52mph down hill. With the E.F.I. I average about 100mpg. Roy

I have an older version of the ecotrons system. I was one of the first to try it on a qmb139 engine. I have had it installed since april of 2011

[replyingto=triker]triker[/replyingto]Triker and Alley,
I am also getting a clacking sound when taking off after riding for several miles. It seems that there is too much clearance in the spider gears. However, sometimes it seems it may be coming from the axles themselves just inside the wheel hubs. The castle nut with the cotter pin is tight.
Any insight before I tear the rear axle down?
Alley, you said that this has to be purchased as an entire assembly? How much?
Jeff
