To be safe get Spybot , Spyware Blaster and Microsoft Security Essentials . Make sure to update all 3 and use the immunize features of Spybot and Spyware Blaster . The most common issue is too many run on the admin account which is a security risk and only needed to install software or make changes . To be safe go under control panel user accounts and make a limited user account to use the system and remove the risk of infections or ooops

Running too many antivirus/ anti spyware causes conflicts and may make then not work correctly or make then slow down your computer to a crawl.
Honestly, I have installed antivirus software a few times in the past 2 years but always remove them after a scan. A little about my downloading habbits before I tell you the results of the scans from MANY antivirus software's.... I download from wherever has what I'm looking for, typically a very dodgy looking website that after downloading I find virus claims or "fraud" claims...
After all of the dodgy places I've found stuff and installed stuff from I STILL come up clean on viruses aand spyware. In the 4 years I had zone alarm I was alerted of viruses daily... installing and scanning then uninstalling, not one virus in 2 years ... I think that's something to be aware of

i think most anti-virus companies are responsible for the viruses out there so i don't use them and have no problems for years now

Exactly justbugn. I think having it makes you a target, something to test your skills on. But I figured that would lead to a whole new category of discussion lol

"shockwave flash may be busy or it may have stopped responding"
Got this window just now when Pandora froze up. So I know I have shockwave but I am guessing there might be something wrong w it.
I'm going to try to delete cookies and temp internet files.. I know I have a LOT of passwords saved on forums..

What are you running? Windows 7 or 8? What browser? Go here and run the free download for anything: www.malwarebytes.org/lp/malware_lp/Go to "manage add ons" disable one thing at a time to see if it clears up. Start with Java. If you find the culprit then uninstall it and re-install a updated version. JR

thnx JR It seems to only do it w youtube videos.. Do you use Chrome? I used to get the "shockwave" crash. I think it has something to do with conflicting flash players or something. There's one built into Chrome, plus the main Adobe flash that people have most of the time anyway. I used to get that all the time. I still get crashes sometimes. Edit: I think I got it on Firefox, too.

Do you have anything like video codec lacks installed? If so a setting in them cause that some times, I don't remember which one but I had the same issue before and I reinstalled windows.... later reinstalled the codec pack and found it to be that and reset all settings to default and it was better
