Folks, I cannot open my seat latch. The last I had it open was last fall when I winterized. Now, it just will not pop. The key is likely to break off if I force it any more. I've tried poking at it through the seem, and have had no luck. I had someone suggest trying to take the front of the seat apart, but I could not do that. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I had the same problem. On mine the ignition switch works a cable to open the latch and a pot metal piece broke inside the switch. I could open it by removing either the gas tank filler tube cover or the rear fender side cover and pulling the cable lever at the latch. On mine the piece the latch bolts to and/or the latch can be unbolted from the rest of the frame after removing enough of the plastic bodywork. That may be your only option if you have a keylock at the latch.

Woowilly,
Based on your comment, I attempted to find a cable lever. I do not see one, although the distance from where the key is used and the latch itself suggests there must be one. I may need to remove some skin to get to it. But yours is the best idea I've gotten yet.
Any other ideas before I start stripping plastic?
Thanks!

I had that problem. I put the little red tube on my can of WD-40 and lubed inside the ignition switch (in the hole the key goes into). That did the trick. Once I got it open, I lubed the latch, too.

I was gonna say maybe spray some WD40 in the lock

Yep.. done that before. I locked my keys in the scooter before... how about that? I got in there. It's not bank vault. Where there is a will there is a way. I eventually got all the parts I could away, preyed up the seat as much as I could, then got a screw driver in there to hit the lever that the cable pulls.

If you have a seat latch that operates with a cable off the ignition switch, Another option is to pull the body plastics to get to the back of the ignition switch and unscrew the nut that holds the outer part of the seat release cable to the switch , ( it looks similar to the throttle cable attachment at the carb.) then pull it away from the switch, this will pull the center cable out which will open the seat latch.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up getting it open by using a long screwdriver and prying the pin out of the latch. I still need to assure it doesn't happen again, but at least I know how to overcome it if it does happen a second time.
Now te next issue. After having it in a shed over the weekend, the battery is, of course, dead. I get absolutely no power from the battery. Won't start, no headlight or tail lights, nothing.
I put it on a trickle charger, and the indicator on the charger said immediately that the battery is charged. So I unplugged the charger, and tried again. Same results. So I hooked up again, and when my wife came into the garage, I went to show here what I was seeing. She pulled on the right brake handle, and when she did, the indicator on the battery charger changed to charging. When she let go of the brake, it changed back to "charged".
Any ideas on that one?

It would seem that you have a blown fuse. However, since pressing the brake lever tells the battery charger that there is an electrical load, at least the main fuse and brake fuse are still OK. I would check to make sure you have a clean and tight battery terminal connection on both positive and negative terminals. If they check OK, then check all the grounds to make sure they are clean and tight.
