I have a neat way to improvise a parking brake on my machine. I have a horseshoe nail, I believe mine is actually a tapered cement nail that is wedge shaped that I use to put in the crack of the brake lever that opens up when the hand brake is applied. Just apply the brake hard, place the wedge in the crack and you have a parking brake. I use it all the time when parking downhill a bit as my machine will roll forward while on the side stand. One would also have to look to see it if you didn't know it was there which will prevent anyone from rolling it up on a trailer or such to steal it.

Some of my Hondas came with one and www.cyclegear.com has or at least had a kit . You could use a zip tie and slide it out of the way when not needed . I did a similar mod to a pressure washer to keep from having to hold down the trigger
