I' needing new tires, but have seen many of the major brands produce Front and Rear tires of the same model. What is the purpose of this. My stock tires are 130/60/13. I'm in the market for new tires now. I've seen a set of Shinko tires from Motorcycle Superstore: goo.gl/7zkSxFront......SR567F-120/70/13 Rear.......SR568R-130/60/13 or SR568R-140/60/13 What does the front/rear designation and sizes have to do with? Thanks in advance

I think for the most part the front/rear designation is just an excuse to charge more for the tire that wears out the fastest.

Is it unusual to have a narrower tire on the front than the rear. I'm kind of looking at Shinko: Front 120/70/13....Rear 140/60/13...or stick to F/R 130/60/13. Will be ordering early this week, once I figure out some of the best configurations. Brandwise....Shinko, Kenda, Avon.....

Hello, I'm kind of new here and saw your thread. From my understanding usually a thinner (not as wide) tire goes in the front while a wider tire in the back. I had found the best deal on the Shinko tire I bought for my back rim on amazon. I bought a 130/70-12. Which is wider than my front tire 120/70-12. I believe it was sold by motorcycle superstore through amazon. Although the better price was on amazon.
As far as front vs rear goes I could not find any variations between them. I just picked my tire based on size.

I have discussed this point with one of the major online dealers of scooter tires and this is their response: "Front and rear tires are designed differently, so we can't recommend running a front on the rear of your bike. The best bet would be to ask you to contact the bike manufacturer and see if they can recommend alternate sizes for you. They should be able to tell you if other sizes will fit and be safe. "

[replyingto=ninja]ninja[/replyingto]If that is really the case and not just a money scheme, I would really like to know what is so different.
