Its been a few years since I've been on here. But I bought a scooter a week ago, I finally got it running but I have zero lights. No brakes, signals, no headlights, nothing. The horn works, the previous owner had made a jumper since there was no ignition switch, they used a brown wire I think they pulled out of the connector, its a 6 pin switch but only has 4 wires. I'm trying to post a pic so hopefully that loads, but I've tried to find the wire they cut and can't find what is missing. If the picture loads can anyone tell me which wires are missing and where they went to originally? Also the kill switch is bad so I had to pull a wire from the CDI and the push button doesn't work, I have power to the solenoid because I can crank it by jumping the points. Any ideas would be super helpful! I used to know how all this stuff was wired up but it's been about 5 years since I touched a scooter lol
Thanks! Daniel,

The thing is with these machines, half the electrical is on the powerplant and half is on the chassis. So these machines end up with some version of a combination of the two. Ask someone who attempts putting a new engine on a chassis. Its kind of a coin toss if the electrics on the engine will work with the electricals on the chassis.
Find a wire diagram on your machine and post.

I dug a little deeper into the wiring and they have cut and spliced damn near everything under the front. I've got a feeling I'm gonna have to rewire all of it just because someone wanted to save $10. I'm gonna try to use my laptop and see if I can get some pics on here. I'd really like to just fix what they have done if at all possible. Wiring is overwhelming to me. I'll look some stuff up and get back to you guys. Thanks again.

[/quote]AC-CDI or DC-CDI?
I'm not sure what cdi is supoosed to have on it, they thought it wasnt getting spark because "the cdi was bad" there's a dozen scooters for sale here that all "need cdi" and they just slap random ones they find off junk scooters. I'll get the model info and pics and get back to you in a hour or 2.

The scooter was made by Taizhou Zhongneng motorcycle company, on the fender it says gmw RX50 but lots of other brands share that so i tried to search for taizhou 50cc scooter wiring diagram and just found typical wiring diagrams that "vary depending on model" i went to o the company website and dont see mine on it, it was made in 2013 so probably discontinued. If anyone can find a diagram i can probably get it back in order myself.
Thanks

Ok so it's a DC cdi that on it. But I have no idea if that's supposed to be what's on it. The idiots before me have changed so much stuff I don't know what's going on. I checked voltage at the battery running. And it was all over the place. Couldn't get a solid reading at all. Same thing when I checked the wires at the stator. I checked wires at the rectifier/regulator, and the most I saw was about 7v.
I have no idea what's going on at this point

How do I know which type of cdi I'm supposed to have? Isn't it based on the number/color of wires coming from the stator?

Ok so they did have the wrong cdi on it. They had put a DC on a AC set up. Getting a perfect 14v from the battery when running. The headlight wires. 4 in total, are saying 3 out of 4 are grounds. I have 14 volts going into one wire on the regulator. Im assuming the in wire. But no power on any other wire. Can a bad regulator cause a short?
