You have me curious as to what was wrong with the engine kits they confiscated. Was it because the engines exceeded the 49cc limit for mopeds? I remember a while back the Feds and EPA had new restrictions on two stroke engines, but I forget when that went into effect though. exactly. 49cc is the limit anything above that is illegal.

We actually found out if we can ship them to the USA (Florida) if they are not illegal there and basically disassemble them completely and ship them in parts back to Puerto Rico.

My uncle's contribution: "As long as it was in small, used bills, you could probably get it waved through for a lot less than $15 grand."
I am not endorsing this...but would be surprised it he were incorrect!

maybe you can take them apart and sell them as a motor kit so that the buyer has to build it like a model

I found a website that sells the bicycle engine kits that are EPA approved. I emailed him to see if the actual engine and everything is EPA approved. If so then i will order one and take lots of pics and our supplier in china can get them for us.

Justbuggin2 seems to have the idea! Don't sell engines...sell "display engine kits"! ;D

marshalldillion is right...the 4 cycle bike engines are not as 'slouchy' as ya think. I know a college student that has one. You order different size sprockets for them and tailor them to your need. His goes 38+ which is quite fast and a bit of a scary ride on an 18 speed bicycle that you can normally peddle at about 20 mph max. Plus he needs not mix oil and gas...and his 4T is quite a lot above 100mpg. The 1 quart tank gets him to school and back for 2 days, so with gas here at $3.80 it costs him cents per day..vice $5.00 for his car.

I talked to a chinese supplier last night that is able to provide the engines. They are more expensive than the 2 stroke ones. But need to find out if they are EPA certified. if so then i will order them. They need to have some type of catalytic converter installed. Without it then it cannot be imported legally.

I just like the way the 2 strokes look better than the four stroke. Can you at least get a black or chrome cover on the motor instead of that red one?
That site Marshalldillon posted has some nice after market parts, even a nitrous set up for it, are you going to offer those as well?

Yea the 2 strokes are alot nicer. as for nitrous setups it would be sweet to offer that but not to many places to get NOS here. still debating because my cost on 2 stroke engine is about $80.00 each. the 4 stroke cost is $160.00 each. so double plus its not that popular here. people here look for the cheapest. From what i am being told the best way to import those 2 stroke engines is through air mail instead of cargo ship but still thats a risk with customs.
