Ok this is one of those things where it got put in the shed cause it was end of the season and kept killing the battery. when I got it, it didn't have spark, replaced stator/pickup, voltage regulator, cdi, spark plug, and coil. I now have a signal to the cdi and spark but it won't start I set the valve last to .004 and .005 I just used the alignment in the little hole for the flywheel mark. But this is what it does. It sounds like the timing is way off, but I don't know how to do that I thought that was the cdi's job. Almost forgot has air and gas. Same results with spaying starter fluid too.
Thanks for the help

I'll flip it around. I put it back on the way I found it but who knows if it was right when I got it. I'll do that in a bit and report back. I don't have a compression tester yet (Harbor Freight here I come) other than the finger plugging the hole test I got ten of those testers, but they aren't calibrated. OK flipped the intake valve cover. The engine cranked a bit quicker when it did fire it sounded stronger ( not sure if that's the word I want to use)

I found the Linhai valve adjustment pdf I didn't align the cam with the flywheel and timing chain tomorrow I will do that, and update. If anyone has a different idea that would be great.

The alignments with the tdc on the cam and the flywheel were lined up and the valves adjusted again and double checked once tightened. Is there a chance my cdi is bad or got shipped wrong? The part was labeled seadoo starter something, it fits perfect, the plug matches but most bombardier engines are 2 cyl or 3cyl. I just don't know the next step should I order another cdi?

It's fixed minus a backfire from the exhaust gasket. It was a coil that had been replaced. The first coil metered out bad so I replaced it installed the new one. along with the CDI because I had not been getting any spark at all. With the second coil it had spark but never thought about it sparking slowly, like every so many revolutions it sparked. The third coil works well and sparks all the time.
