Guys,
My bike has developed an eractic idle, issues starting, and popping/clicking under load. Bike was ran low on oil for an undetermined amount of time. Things ive checked:
Carb has been cleaned, correctly adjusted and checked for air leaks.
Valves have been correctly lashed
Im thinking it may be crank/rod bearings due to being run low on oil and a 90cc bbk being installed.
The popping/clicking noise sounds like its coming from the top end sometimes, kinda sounds like the timing chains skipping, clicking, or otherwise under strain.
Thoughts before i do a complete teardown?

Could be a number of things,,,sounds initially like an air leak around carb or manifold but because of the oil starvation issue it could be a scuffed cylinder ,,galled cam bearings or rocker assembly ,,valve guides ,,,that's a tough one,,if it were mine I'd have it in pieces already,,,I went another route with my scooter,,(bought a Stella) but early on I was thinking of addressing the oil capacity and the pump and filtration issues on the gy6 engine but most scooter owners are historically cheap or broke and trying to make hot rods for no money and there would have been no market for these kinds of mods,,,by the time you got done messing around with mods you could have purchased a Taida mill,,,

Before ya tear into it try the Stethoscope screw driver test, start the scoot and get your longest screw driver and put it up to your ear and try to isolate the noise. Pop the CVT cover off to get a better read off the Crank.. Good luck

Post a video if you can, that would help us a lot to find the issue.

I (or we) would be able to tell if it’s one of the crank bearings going out just by the sound. I’ve heard it about 6 times over the last 10 years.
I can’t say I’d describe it as a popping/clicking sound. I’d say it sounds more like a diesel engine, like a school bus.
