I just purchased my first Scooter, a 2007 Znen 250T-B. I am so excited to start riding but I have a few concerns. First of all it won't idle when at a stop which for a first time rider is a real bummer trying to keep it running while applying both brakes to avoid jumping forward. When I took it for a test ride it idled so I figured he had ridden it quite a ways before I got there. I took it out yesterday and it wouldn't idle and runs rough at slow speeds. It was quite a bit colder yesterday when I drove it though only 40 degrees. Could that be the reason? It also needs a new muffler so I thought that might be a reason also. My second concern is there is a clunking sound coming from the front when I apply the brakes, any idea what it might be? The brakes still work fine though. My last question is about rear tire replacement. The manual says to get 110/ -12 tires. Should I stick with that or is there something better? Any advice you guys (and Gals) could give me would be GREATLY appreciated. I can hardly wait to ride but it figures we are getting a snow storm today

I believe that is the same body style as my MC-13-250 (Bali). Do you have the 244cc Honda clone engine with the vertical cylinder? If so the rear tire should be a 10 inch rim. Rear tire size is 120/ -10. The front tire should be a 12 inch rim. Front tire size 120/70-12. Yes, air temperature can make a difference on how it runs. They tend to run leaner in cold temperatures and it can be compensated for with the mixture screw, which is hard to get at on these. Stalling at stop signs is also an indication that the valves need to be adjusted. When you apply the brakes, does the front of the scooter dive down sharply? That can be the cause of the noise you hear. Means the front forks need to be serviced with fresh oil. They might be low and what passes for chinese oil isn't the best. Also, the sound could come from a loosely mounted brake caliper or loose steering head bearings.

Agree with adjusting the idle screw. As far as the clunk, make sure the front caliper is tight. Actually, you should spend the entire day going thru the entire bike with a screwdriver and socket set, tightening every last nut/bolt/screw you can find. And change all the fluids, plug, etc etc. You already mentined getting a new muffler
Yes, if the front end dives when you do a hard stop, it could be the fork oil. Not sure what weight these scoots use, by my Honda Shaodw came with 10W, and I replaced (along with Progressive springs) it with 20W.

Thanks for the info!! I am spending the day with my Scooter my toolbox and my repair manual. I have never worked on a scooter before but it can't be to much different from a motorcycle which I have worked on. Wish me luck!! Thanks again.

I can hardly wait to ride but it figures we are getting a snow storm today Yeah if it wont idle and stay still it needs the intake valve and exhaust valve adjusted. Then get a screw driver and turn the idle screw to make it perfect not too lean or rich (if you keep turning the screw and no matter what the back wheel is still turning with no gas you need the valves adjusted). A clunking sound coming from the front brakes. Check the front wheel bearing. Check the amount of pad life left. Yes change the oil in the forks. Bounce the scoot up and down and check the front fork. Stick to the manual and get the same tire size IMHO but I would go with Michelin brand.
