Anyone familiar with the bolt missing for the znen 150cc scooter? Goes through the exhaust bracket and into the case? Should be a standard ISO M6 thread I believe.

Make sure you get a high grade bolt That particular part is not well engineered It needs a bolt that can handle shear and flex at the same time

So I ran into a bit of a snag. Trying to replace the bolt I noticed that it's broken off inside - hence why I lost it.
Attempt to drill it out? Any other way of getting around this (replacement exhaust)? Local shop told me to just go a welder and have it mounted permanently due to the design you guys mentioned...

yes try to drill it out, if you mess up the thread you can tap it a size bigger or make it a through bolt

Look for my head repair thread. Has pictures on putting steel inserts in the heads. Imho if you gotta pull the head may as well improve it. For an hour or so of work you get the peace of mind steel-on-steel threadng provides.

Drill a hole in the broken bolt shaft,,,probably wouldn't hurt to soak the shaft are with penatrating oil side and out over nite ,,,the use an easy out to extract the shaft,,,4-5 piece kits are sold at any auto parts store,,,very inexpensive,,,buy a grade 8 minimum replacement bolt,,,don't cheap out here,,,get a quality bolt,,,it'll save you $ in the long run

don't weld it, that happens to need to come off when putting fresh rubber on. worst comes to worst if trying to drill it out and you mess up the threads yadayadayada, through bolt it with a self locking nut and a bolt just long enough to make use of said nut.
