New bike has 400 miles on it. it surges in the mid-range, could it be a vacuum leak at the intake ?? Carb is tight any suggestions appreciated.

You can test if you have a air leak by putting start gas around the intake or fuel lines, carb and see if the engine rpm goes higher, put the start gas on 1 part at the time so you know where you may have a leak

How tight did you tighten your carb? The plastic spacer between carb and head crack easily.
