Scratching my head on this one. This is a 2012 150cc GY6 Scooter ( HT150T-20). Was running great, then started getting battery charging issues, so I replaced the battery, still not charging. While I was troubleshooting, I crashed the engine, so I got a new one ( Here) installed the new engine, figured, new stator, should solve the problem, Still not charging. So I get a new Rectifier ( Here) Still not charging. I check the stator voltages, (it's a 6 port rec, 3 wire from the stator) one out of three is way low. I test continuity, from rear ports to front ports, seems fine. Then a post in here says check for ground. And low and behold, one of the 3 stator wires is grounded. I run a parallel wire, to use instead of the grounded wire in the harness. connect it to the stator connector and the rectifier connector. Success! The battery is now charging, showing 14v. HOWEVER, NOW THE HEADLIGHTS DON'T WORK. taillight, turn signals are ok, just no headlights. I put back the grounded stator wire that I had bypassed, and the headlights are WORKING again! ? The Stator wire seems to be straight thru the harness, AFAICT, it even pulls a bit if I tug on one end. My best guess is that the grounding failure on the stator wire is also interacting with the ground for the headlights somehow. There is a smaller CDI looking box with 3 wires going in, which when removed also disables the headlights (leaving the other lights functional). I'm not sure the purpose of this box, but none of the wires going into it yellow. Anyone seen this one before? Any Ideas on how to troubleshoot? Thanks for looking, Gentry

it's probably another rectifier for the lighting circuit, half of the ac waveform goes to ground anyway, and if they go bad, they create a direct path to ground, pictures and closeups of the wire colors would help it's hard to diagnose wiring issues by description

usually the headlight and taillight run off of the AC side of the stator, really rectified DC and the brake light, turn, signals run from the battery

Thanks or the diagram and directions. At this point I installed a switch to bypass the segment of the stator wire that I believe is incorrectly grounded, so during the day I can charge the battery, and when I need the lights, I better head home, cause that ground is preventing the battery from being charged.
What I noticed, when that wire segment is bypassed, the electronic choke control doesn't work as well (or at all?) and the engine bogs down when starting from a stop. Also, there is a little dash computer, and the backlight on that doesn't light up, although the digital gauges still operate.
Before the original engine failed, it rode like that, like the electronic choke was not operating correctly. Lots of shaking and shuddering on startup, which is probably the reason the variator weights failed, and (what I believe caused) a driveshaft bearing to fail. Although the headlights were still working at that time, but that's about when the battery charging issue started.
The mystery box has the letters X11060 (or X110G0) on the back, pictures attached. Turns out it is 4 wire, and there is a yellow wire going into it, so I think it may be the box between the CDI and the lights.
Also, not sure if it's germain, but the new engine came with a CDI, a much smaller box, but with the same plugs. I tried to replace it, but it popped the main fuse when it got power. the old CDI seemed to function fine, so I put it back and got status-quo.
Any clues on this box? that part number didn't hit anything that resembles it.
thx again. Gentry
