Here we go ....... I Have a BT49QT-28A Baotian Falcon 2 stroke 50cc scooter, the thing became hard to start a few weeks ago, then refused to start Did a compression test and it was low about 85psi, so i ordered a new top end kit, cylinder, piston, rings, piston pin, gudgen pins, head, base and exhaust gaskets, also new spark plug, coil, lead & cap ! Took my time and did a proper job, bled the oil pump, plenty of 2t oil when putting it all together, and charged the battery up while it was off the bike ! (Dont think i've missed anything) The ped started lovely, and revved up on the center stand no worries, took it for a spin and engine stopped quite quickly (felt like it had nipped up) .. BUT it started again, rode it and it stopped, repeated this until i got it back home (about 2 miles) and on the ramp. Put it on the center stand and it started and revved up to 6k RPM no worries, i even pushed my luck and disconnected the clutch pick up wire to the CDI and it revved up to 8k RPM no worries The only thing I've noticed is the pipe from the oil pump to the carb is leaking ...... Ideas please !!

Where exactly is it leaking, that may be the problem that the motor is not getting the right amount of lube and is getting hot on you.
If you can get a picture of where it is leaking that would help to see if it can be fixed or not. It may just need a new gasket or tighten etc.. Alleyoop

DX also make sure you are not sucking any extra air any where make sure your air box is sealed tight wait does the spark plug look like if whitish means its lean on fuel also did you replace it with a stock size new cylinder kit

Improper break in procedure if the piston to cylinder clearance was on the tight side maybe.

Hello guys, just an update, checked all wires and connectors - all good , i've done a compression test and its good On the center stand it revs freely, doesn't get to hot, the oil leak is coming from the pipe that attaches to the carb from the oil pump which i will look at tomorrow im sure it just needs a new pipe, unless someone knows of any other reason as to why it would leak. I took the L/H cover off today and found a nice blue hue on the clutch bell cover which i will look into further tomorrow. Ride Safe..........

Yeah dude you never want to see in oil injected bike leaking 2 stroke oil.
Maybe even just switch to premix if there is even a question of oil being delivered.
Did your new top end have better/different porting than your old top end?
If so its possible you are running lean and need to upjet.
The other thing that is common when messing about with these 2 stroke Chinese scooters is the air box hose/hoses not being air tight and leaning out the mixture.
Just do your plug chops.
Sounds to me like you are lean and either need to upjet on account of better porting or there is air sneaking in somewhere and leaning you out.
