By the way I have never felt safe at any speed on a trike of any displacement those things are squirrelly suckers. Now that I can believe. Same as sidecar/scooter. I tell people that when you are riding a motorcycle the world rotates about you. It really does. When you take a curve you and the bike stay vertical, the world tilts. On a trike or hack the world stays flat. So far, I have not been forced onto three wheels. As a side track, I hate squirrels: www.dslretorts.com/Paladin/archives/002691.html

From the Nebraska MVA handbook (don't know about all the states) Cite? Looking at the Nebraska Legislature's website re: Vehicle Code: nebraskalegislature.gov/laws/browse-chapters.php?chapter=60 I could not find the laws that the "Nebraska MVA handbook" cites. That the 14" diameter thing would be on any road, to stop pocket bikes. The minimum for a scooter on the Interstate is 10 bhp, my Vespa is 11+ bhp.

The speed limit on the interstate in FL is 60-65MPH, on the highway 50MPH. You need to be able to have a sustained speed of 50MPH or more on the interstate, and 40MPH on the highway.... The 150cc is about the smallest bike I'd get on the interstate. On the Interstates, legally, the posted speed limit is the maximum. And the trucks are generally driving at the limit. Big touring motorcycles do the speed limit or a bit less. Most cars only do about 5 mph over. And once in a while you see a car that cares more about money than time and they are driving 55-60 mph. When I took my bike on a trailer to El Paso I was driving 60 mph -- and I had no problem, people had no problem passing me, legally, safely. Minimum speed on the Interstates, when posted, is 45 mph. If a 150 cannot do 45mph it needs to be repaired. My LX150 did over 61 mph average over a 40 mile run on the freeway. Quite safely, I do watch my mirrors to make sure people are passing instead of ramming. Riding the Interstates is safe on a 150. That you, and most people, are uncomfortable doing unless you are doing over the speed limit does not mean that I am uncomfortable doing the same. That a Chinese under 150cc trike cannot do 50+ mph and is "unsafe" on the Interstate it does not mean that my 150+cc 60-65 mph Vespa is also "unsafe" on the Interstate.

Even if it could keep up with traffic, states have minimum tire size requirements for riding in the interstate. (and I don't think the back wheels would be legal.) I have never heard of a minimum tire size retirement for riding on the Interstate. Especially since a '60's Mini Cooper can do over 100 mph on 10" wheels. Every State has their Vehicle Code on line -- show me the law.

I'm talking about scooters in the 150cc category... Many sellers in the past advertised a 60mph top speed for the 150cc scooters, just to sell a scooter. Interstates are 65-70 mph and motorist are all doing 10mph over the limit, most of the time, that's not a safe ride for a 150cc. IMHO Not safe "In My Humble Opinion" -- I have been driving for over 50 years and I know anything is safe if you compensate. I have taken my Vespa on the I-405 from Torrance to Lake Forrest -- 40 miles in 39 minutes. Last month I went on a jaunt through the Mojave under the Full Moon -- at night, 157 miles on the Freeways/Interstates, 89 miles through the National Park and back to the Interstate, 108 miles back home Interstates/Freeways while morning broke. I had a 652cc motorcycle, I could have had a bigger bike -- but I wanted lightest weight that was capable and legal on any road or highway in North America -- a 150.46cc Vespa. WOT is not a problem. Not "having anymore throttle to get out of harms way is not riding safe" tells me that you are a unsafe driver.

While I love my stella... what could I do to make it look awesome... I don't want to be stuck with an ugly looking scoot. It already looks awesome, it is like an one air-cooled Volkswagen Beetle and *cannot* be made ugly. I assume that is a metal front fender, I would mount a decent loud horn.

how about on a boat dock? i tried to park it out on the dock and do a "surrounded by water" but there were too many boats passing and rocking the dock... was afraid id loose my scoot into the water!! I couldn't ride onto the docks -- locked behind fences. But I can understand since there is about a billion dollars of boats in Marina Del Rey. Just a small part of the marina:

Gremlins cause equipment failures. Gremlin bells cause gremlins to drop off your scooter, to stop equipment failures. Trolls eat gremlins. Gremlins do not merely drop off the scooter -- they die. 2013: . . . 2005:

... then take it on a road trip down the back roads of the USA, see how far I can make it.... Being broken down on the side of the road doesn't sound like fun. Not to mention that I am *NOT* a mechanic. I also wanted minimum California Freeway Legal, hence I bought a Vespa. It is reliable. Last weekend I left home about 8:30pm Saturday to get some pastries for breakfast, got back about 7:30 am Sunday -- got a little sidetracked by the Full Moon in the Mojave -- 370 miles. 66 miles in the Mojave, middle of the night, no traffic, 30-40 mph, no gear, no helmet, Earth in Heaven. With a little less displacement, say 124-149.9cc, you can get Taiwan, Korean, or Chinese built scooter that will just as reliable. The manufacturer is what matters. The Piaggio Fly 150 is made in China. I have been riding for many decades, the last 8 years on the 650 Savage. People asked about the Savage, with it's big single up and naked. About twice a year. Now I have the Vespa. I got the scooter only because it is getting a bother swing a leg over the saddle, and wanted less weight than the 380 pounds of the Savage. Still have people asking about my scoot -- but now it is at least every week.

Tow behind

Has anybody ever seen a small tow-behind cart for scooters/bikes any pictures of them? I think it's a great idea for hauling small stuff, groceries etc.Just around town stuff. ;D For JUST ONLY slow around town, non-legal, non-DOT, not-whatever, but cheap!, you could easily build one for about $50 with stuff at Lowes, other than the bicycle wheel. I haven't actually built one, but it should work.
