It revs pretty high for about a minute when you start it. Idles down to a decent idle and about 20 seconds later it sputters out. Whatever plug it came with is what's in there. Scoot probably only has about 20 miles on it. I wouldn't think the valves or plug would need work this quick... but then again, didn't plan to put a new Carb on this soon either.

Posted a few week's ago about the Carb on my wife's taotao leaking fuel. Replaced the Carb with a new one and that problem stopped. Now it will start and run ok for awhile then idles way down and dies out. Changed both jets from the old Carb to the new one and it didn't help. Ended up switching them back. Can't tell you what size are in the new Carb but the old Carb had a 33 and an 81. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies. I went ahead and popped for the one I originally linked to. I did it last night. Now to wait for it to come in so I can get the wife on the road again.

k, thanks for the help. Now to convince the wife to let me pull the trigger. She can't grasp the concept that it's only money. Every 2 weeks my bank account refills itself.

It's the 50cc taotao. Float didn't seem to be sticking although when I first opened it up it was "bottoming out" on the top half of the carb. Like it wasn't able to lift all the way to shut the needle off. After I adjusted it, it wasn't hitting anymore and seemed to be pivoting ok. I was considering an aftermarket keihin on ebay for $35 but the price seemed to good to be true keihin.

Guess I forgot to mention... it's a taotao 50 retro scooter.

Been on the site browsing around to solve my problems and cant quite get there. My wifes scoot runs fine... once you get it started, but after running it shortly then letting it sit, it will leak gas from the carb through the air intake tube and out the back of the air box. I've checked the petcock and it seems fine( no gas flowing unless bike is running or cranking). Ive taken the carb bowl off (not easy because of the sealed fasteners). I've adjusted the float 3 times now and each time it continues to leak fuel. The 3rd time I set the float i attached a hose to the fuel port and blew through it. I set the float so that it was barely letting any air through and the slightest pressure on the float would close the needle. Needle seems to be seating properly as it stopped the air flow as I was blowing through the tube. Any suggestions or something I may be missing? Scoot is BRAND new! Just bought it 2 weeks ago and havent put more than 30km on it. Gotta get it fixed to make the wife happy!
