Here's a pic of final product.. I actually went back and cut the existing exit pipe off and added a much bigger one.. also a piece of futon. Sounds great.. isn't loud and obnoxious but isn't silent like stock. Has a throaty sound to it. GOOD LUCK!

Some restricted pipes are a pain in the ads to get restrictions out of.. you'll need a torch. Take your time.. make straight cuts for the reassembly and it's a cake walk.

Here's the last one I did.. pics aren't the best but my materials are -bag of steel wool -bag of fiberglass mat -bailing wire -pipe (in my case I used a piece of old futon!) You're essentially tearing out the restrictions and allowing your exhaust to free flow out... fiberglass mat and wool with perforated pipe used as a muffler. Works great.. the more wool and fiberglass you use the quieter it sounds. A few pics... You'll see one of matials.. one after I had cut both ends of muffler... one of the Justin Bieber futon piece welded back into header hole... a pic of the pipe with holes drilled into it.. and also the wrapped pipe.. and of course finished product. I'm not too proud of this one because of looks but after a good grinding and some heat resistant paint it looks beautiful.

Absolutely... you'll need access to a welder

I have a new taotao 150 and am considering an upgrade Scrappy's has a larger performance carburetor and exhaust that looks appealing? What would I get ? Would it be worth it to let it breathe a little without touching the base engine. Would appreciate opinions and suggestions alike. Thanks ! I just picked up a 150cc scoot the other day. Same exact engine as in your tao. The carb update won't be necessary but you will need to upjet and retune your carb if you were to put an exhaust on to account for more airflow. No need to upgrade carb unless you bore it out imo. If you have access to a welder you can modify your stock exhaust. I do it on all my scoots. Totally free.. look it up!
