UPDATE: My scooter doesn't have a kill switch. Also somewhere the starter button circuit is off. I'd kind of like to know more about that aside from tracing the cable from the solenoid to the switch. That's for another time though, I've been starting it with a rubber handled socket wrench, and I'll wire something more permanent, because tracing all of that seems like a pain. Also, it's still dying after a little bit of use. I adjusted the carb to fit in the intake better, and started it up. It had more compression and ran great for about a block. Then it was idling really weak with the throttle not really changing it very much. And then dead and wouldn't start, and the valve cover was very hot. I'm not too experienced here, so if someone could give me a direction, like does that sound more like a carb problem or the valves? Thanks for the help guys, Scooterloo appreciates it.

(It's aircooled crawford) Ok, so I've had some "luck" finding out what the problem is. I've isolated that my manual kill switch has been broken off and I have to use tools to push it, but it works properly. The side stand kill switch probably doesn't exist on my model, I've looked around the kickstand area and can't find a switch. However, I thought I'd check the oil and when I unscrewed the dipstick it came pouring out. It also kind of smelled like gas/ looked kind of thin. I'm going to put fresh oil in it, and clean the filter. By the way it's that black after less than a quarter mile test run.

I'm really not so sure on an electrical issue, like, it might be electrical on the front that a heat sensor is putting it on a timed killswitch or something. The valve cover was almost to hot to touch. Is there a reason it is getting so hot? I'll take a picture of the plug tonight, if I get fiddling with it too in depth.

OK, so everything seemed to be working so I let it idle for a bit and it got hot and died. The plug was real black and now it won't even try to start. Like seriously, this problem I've had since I got it. It doesn't even try to start, no solenoid click or anything. It also seems random when it does finally try and turn over. Still not sure why it won't at least try to start more than 5\60 tries, but it keeps dying.

Looks like my fuel pump is clogged up, I took it off and put it in a ISO bath. Worst case, I'll order a new one. Awful gravity pumps.

Yeah, after I adjusted the pickup coil to where I was getting enough VAC, the plug is now sparking. I'll drain my fuel and at least open the carb, and inspect for gunk. Thanks a heap you guys.
ALSO: I use starTron fuel stabilizer and it has enzymes that break stuff down, so hopefully I haven't jellied.

I've tested the continuity for the wires going from the CDI to the spark coil.

Ok, so my scooter stopped starting back in October. I've been busy, but slowly replacing parts trying to get the spark. A new CDI, spark coil, starter, solenoid, and 2 spark plugs later, I'm convinced it's probably the stator. I'm slightly daunted after spending about $100 on new parts, and the difficulty of getting the fly wheel off. I don't own a pry tool, and the necessary tools to make one are just more to the budget. Is there something obvious I'm missing or maybe a way to test it without taking the fly wheel off?
