I'll start by saying I had a xingyue ita 150 & never had any problems. Basically I never had to repair much and i got a taotao paladin 150 a few months back used. Shortly after getting it I noticed it started skipping especially when trying gaining higher speeds. I thought it was gas/carb issues or something. I was riding around 50mph a couple weeks ago and it quit going. The cvt belt was shredded inside but I was able to make out the part number 835-20-30 so I ordered a new one. I cleaned inside the housing as good as I could and put the belt on without taking the variator off. Now its stuck in high gear and wont go into low gear. Never had this issue before. Now im thinking the skipping was possibly the belt missing teeth. I don't think the clutch would go bad if it was fine before. I'm gonna take it apart tomorrow and see if I see anything. Another question I have is about the kick start. I don't know the exact names of the parts but inside the cvt housing are the two rods with cogs on them. The one closest to the variator and not the one that actually holds the kick lever has apparently gotten out of alignment. Can I just take the kick start out and have only the clutch and variator? My electric start works fine and I think something was broken or out of alignment on the kick start and is possibly the reason the belt shredded. I am limited with what tools I have. I've had the toughest 8 months of my life. Any suggestions on fixes? I'm pretty much limited to socket set. No impact wrench, torch or anything. I could probably borrow tools but it'd be a long walk to get them.

I just bought my 2nd scoot. A 2014 TaoTao 150. I believe it is a Paladin 150 based on pics. I think I may have overpaid a little but I was sick of not having a way to go to do anything and I live in the woods. I also refuse to get a 50cc bc ppl will run you over here. I paid $750 and the scoot is in excellent condition. When I test drove it it started right up but sputtered at higher speeds and quit starting. I thought I got ripped off but i changed the spark plug and it runs great now.
My previous scoot was a xingyue ita 150. It seemed faster but I sold it to a friend who was supposed to sell it back but he fell off the wagon and traded it to drug dealers. He never put the title in his name. I still have the title. I'm sure the motor is blown now but do you think it's worth it to try and get it back? When I say drug dealers I'm not talking about the boyz in tha hood. More like white trash in wheelchairs selling pills. I'm afraid they could do something stupid and the scoot is registered to me. I'd also like to have it for parts. Is it even worth worrying over? Also do you think I paid wayu too much for the2014 tao 150 scoot? Its in excellent condition. Less than 4000 on odometer. Scooters are in such high demand in myrtle beach. Every scooter I looked at New online had prices around $800 but after shipping and fees they were more like $1400.
