WOT riding is unwise on anything, except pre-70's BMW's and some older modest Jap bikes, and even then, caution should be employed. Nothing modern, Chinese/Russian/European/British/sub-Continental or US will long tollerate such abuse, unless it's a diesel, and then be careful.
Very few petrol engines are made now that will run at continuous max power without severe wear or overheating. The old BWM and VW boxers were such, but not anymore. Diesels are built to run continuously at max power, which is measured -10% for hi air temperatures and - another 10% for motor overheating. It's called de-rated max power, which is the minimum highest power the good engine will produce under the most adverse conditions. IE you will always get at least 22bhp from a 22bhp diesel in good condition.

My scoot has this engine, and my user manual says 15W40-4T. Remember this engine has splash lube for the big end, which is prob adequate, but crude. The electric choke should come off after abt 3min, or as the temp gauge passes the first mark. It's not uncommon for the temp sensors to be wrong, even from new. The 1996-1998 YP250 manual, avail online or CD is sufficient to cover this motor. Are you often riding much above sea level (<300M)? Your bike may need rejetting if you are. use good fuel, this engine requires octane, I don't know if its ethanol approved. Mine has done 1700km, oil changes every 3000km will be ok after first change at 1000km. Mine was made Dec 2009, and I bought it new in May this year. It really needs a kickstarter for emergencies, but for the price, it's ok.

My Lifan Laguna 250 requires Octane, 10.x:1 compression, 12KW, but I'm running 91RON ULP w/out ethanol and it's slowly overheating on runs. I've already decided to run RON, just hoping that's going to fix it. I'm quite heavy, tho' my riding area is reasonably flat - just a few slopes, most modest and mild winds atm.

G'Day from Australia! My NOS 6yo Lifan now has 1500km on it, and I want to tow a trailer up to 150kg gross load. The bike is already 150kg, and I'm at least 120kg of the 175kg max carried mass. My problems are 2. 1. I need better cooling, as it's running to 2hot now @ 25degC and summer is 1 mth and + another 20degC away. The other is I need a tow hitch [like a 1998 YP250] which my bike is cloned from. Local regulations are tight, and my only national source is very $$$$$! It's also for a later model-a Maxan, which I'm guessing is similar. A custom made hitch will need certifications & testing, so it wouldn't be cheaper. This little scooter rides ok, but is really an unknown, compared to an established Japanese bike, which have a broadly known or discoverable history. The motor is a 1P69MM. The radiator is under the center of it, and too small, with a weak fan. I can't upgrade the fan, the marginal electrics would overload at night. A better coolant would be good, but I haven't found one. I'm using a 50/50 mix of Ethylene Glycol/Distilled water. There are no air bubbles in cooling circuit. Mixture and plug are correct.
