G'Day from Australia! My NOS 6yo Lifan now has 1500km on it, and I want to tow a trailer up to 150kg gross load. The bike is already 150kg, and I'm at least 120kg of the 175kg max carried mass. My problems are 2. 1. I need better cooling, as it's running to 2hot now @ 25degC and summer is 1 mth and + another 20degC away. The other is I need a tow hitch [like a 1998 YP250] which my bike is cloned from. Local regulations are tight, and my only national source is very $$$$$! It's also for a later model-a Maxan, which I'm guessing is similar. A custom made hitch will need certifications & testing, so it wouldn't be cheaper. This little scooter rides ok, but is really an unknown, compared to an established Japanese bike, which have a broadly known or discoverable history. The motor is a 1P69MM. The radiator is under the center of it, and too small, with a weak fan. I can't upgrade the fan, the marginal electrics would overload at night. A better coolant would be good, but I haven't found one. I'm using a 50/50 mix of Ethylene Glycol/Distilled water. There are no air bubbles in cooling circuit. Mixture and plug are correct.

Have you checked the coolant temperature gauge against a known good one? You may not really have a cooling problem. I had a stock one that read much higher than what the temperature really was. I bought one of these www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-LCD-Display-Temperature-Meter-Gague-2Meter-Length-Waterproof-Probe-/251749747034?hash=item3a9d74495a:g:32oAAOxycmBS3-iJBefore I put it on the scooter I dunked the sensor into a pan of boiling water for a few minutes to see what it read at 100 C and used the correction for all readings. I epoxied the sensor to the radiator tank near the return hose and took a long, fast ride. Thus I discovered I really had no heat problem. Too bad you have such severe restrictions. I hope in return you have a much lower traffic injury and death rate.
