If anyone is interested I posted a new video on tuning carburetors for cold weather. I don't want to spam my buds here, but my of my inspiration comes from the discussions we have here.
I'm also open to any video suggestions members have. I want to try and advance scooter / GY6 Engine knowledge in a fun and entertaining way. So far I have been buying all the spare and testing parts, and don't mind. The plan is to giveaway extras to fans also. My old lady is already complaining about the amount of tools and spare parts I have in the garage.
For this video I'm giving away a 8-pole stator set (stator, flywheel, pickup, and 3 pin rectifier) to the third person who shares the video on a social media site.

Remove the kick starter to discard that as the failure, it can run fine without it, if that is not the issue, just put it back on, it is probably out of place, that's why it is stuck. I agree.... If you are getting spark, and the piston moved when you rotated the variator, electric and seizure problems can be eliminated. Sounds like the kick starting teeth somehow became misaligned. Remove the kick start to simplify the mechanics.

When you adjusted the valves. Were you able to spin the flywheel to get the piston to TDC?

Very nice video. I admit I was unsure where you were going with it. I suspect the sand is for dissipating heat. When I was testing regulators one of them was loose in the metal body. The regulator tested good but I tore it opened anyway It had the very fine sand. I would like to replace the variable timing cdi you used for your experiment The NYCSP0007 . I'm unsure how you ordered it please let me know. Were there any other items you were interested in dissecting? John That's very nice of you to offer to replace it. But I am already running one in my 150. If you have a stock A/C CDI laying around, I need one of those as a backup. I'll pay for shipping. I'll PM you my contact info.

Lol... OP, can you be more descriptive? When you are try to kick start is the engine turning over, or does it feel like you are kick air?

Has anybody ever wonder if the rumor was true that the blue "racing" CDIs were filled with gravel? Today I found out that it depends on which one you buy. All CDIs are filled with a insulating medium. For most units that medium is a plastic resin which sometimes includes fillers to possibly reduce cost. One was filled with sand. [Blue Advanced "Racing" CDI from Ebay] [Gold Advancing CDI from NYCScooters]

Thank you for the kind words. It was a fun project, and something different to try. It's a little rough around the edges in some places, but that can be worked on. For the next video I'm debating between testing spark plugs or cutting open several blue "racing" CDIs looking for sand. CDIs! CDIs is what I was leaning towards. I already purchased 2 super cheap blue ones from eBay and 1 cheap one from Amazon. I also got an orange one from Amazon also. I'm wondering how many more do I need.
