Variator ramps are different between manufacturers, is better to buy the whole variator assembly from the same brand, that way you won't have issues like this.

Agree with Leo, don't charge the battery with more than 1 amp, the so called "fast chargers" put a lot more amps into the battery, but that shortens the battery's life; a trickle charger like Kat's battery tender junior is what you want.

The benefit you will see on a GY6 engine using synthetic oils is less frequent oil changes, synthetic oil doesn't degrade as fast as mineral oil.

Does Peej has a kickstarter? If so, you shouldn't worry, it can run without a battery to the shop, just don't drive in the dark, the head and rear lights usually don't work without battery.
