Was it clean, or was it lean? Engine running hot is a lean symptom. Fuel cools the engine, so if you have more fuel the engine does not get as hot. I'm not sure how hot your engine is getting, but I personally do a hand check. I have a high tolerance for heat and cold extremes, so if the CVT case right where the variator is feels burning then I would say it is hot. When I have good fuel to air ratio then after a 10-20 mile ride I can put the back of my hand on the spot I mentioned and it will just feel warm to me. He says it was clean. But its possible it was not getting enough fuel and cause the engine to be warmer. He checked with his hand but it also smelled funny. I'm going to make him check the air/fuel ratio. Another thing is this engine has 2 covers. I don't know why but maybe it can't cool fast enough. The outer cover is just for looks cause it has the PCC logo on it. I wonder if other Puma owners have had the same problem.

Thanks for the link lain and suggestions JerryScript geh3333 dmartin95 lain. I'm having my mechanic AKA husband, check the filter again. BTW its a new original filter in the airbox. We removed only the thick foam, not the open cell filter. We are going to spray it lightly with oil so we don't pick up all that dirt and dust. He thinks the engine just may need to be broken in so it won't run as hot.

Thanks for the tip. But the problem has been resolved. It wasn't starved for fuel, it was starved for air. I looked at the air filter and it was like a double air filter. A thick foam attached to a thin open cell type. I removed the thick foam filter and rode the scooter. NO problem! It was being restricted by the thick foam filter. You still want to check the plug to see if you are running lean . running lean will cause the engine to run hot. If the scoot was starved of air , then you where running rich . do u have a temp gauge? Yes I checked the plug and it was clean.

Hi. Just bought a new (never run) 2012 Puma Valentine 50. Starts and runs but the engine gets hot. It feels like it gets starved for fuel when I ride it. Have adjusted the carb and even put a new carb. Also adjusted the valves to be looser. Anyone have any ideas? Help!

Hi. I just joined this forum. I have a question about a 2009 QLink commuter 250 my husband just bought. I didn't come with the owners manual of course. We are looking for the coolant filler. Can't even see the radiator to follow the hoses. He doesn't want to remove any body parts if he doesn't have too. Does anyone know how to get to the filler so we can check the coolant and add if necessary. It runs beautifully!
