My problem is when i put the valve cover back on it makes a clacking noise. I thought it was my belt at first but when i take the valve cover off it doesnt make the noise anymore. The exhaust valve isnt opening and i dont have any compression. I dont have any bent valves, because if i was to take the valve cover off and turn the engine over i have compression. I dont know what the problem is, i have tried another valve cover that didnt help. Could it be the camshaft? Never had this problem.

my cn250 makes this bang noise when cranking. i cant seem to understand what it is, it will eventually start but the the bang its making is stopping it. i was told that the fuel was pre igniting causing it to fire at the wrong time. the engine has 10:1 compression. My battery was also fully charged. the engine also has a bunch of mods. here is a link so you guys can hear how it sounds. any help will be highly appreciated.

put the exhaust gasket in and im still having a loud backfire with a flame through the exhaust. I reset the valves on compression stroke. I also went back and relapped my valves again and still same thing.

yea both intake and exhaust valve were leaking. they are not bent, they just wont seat well after I relaped them. so I ordered a new pair hopefully they will seat.

thanks for your response, I knew my timing was correct. so do I need to relap the valves or replace them, as they shouldn't be bent. the engine has never jumped time.

i went back out and checked the timing again this morning and im still getting backfire, so i took the head off to check the valves. i poured gas through each port and the exhaust and intake valve is leaking gas. so if its leaking gas then i know its leaking air when the engine is trying to crank. could that be the problem?

hey guys my cn250 is backfiring through the carburetor. I have been readjusting my valves and timing all day. whats causing this? i set piston to tdc compression stroke, then adjust valves but im still getting backfire in the carb. i also have the camshaft lined up evenly with the head. The hole in the camshaft is on top with the A on the bottom.
