That guy is a good supplier, GEH. Not as good as Gy6, but good.
Not positive, of course, but pretty sure the Dr Pepper ones I got were legit, and they were from an ebay supplier.
About GY6 --- usually he is the absolute best at shipping - same day, priority 2-day, if ordered soon enough. but the 2 belts i ordered last thursday morning were just shipped today. Have been nervous even riding the thing w/o a backup belt since I'm not sure I found the problem with the oversized glide plate. Packed my electric torque wrench under the seat, so if i had a replacement it would be a 2 minute roadside job if I had a replacement belt (CVT cover still off). Well, either the GY6 or the kevlar belt should be here in a few days ...

I got over 4K km on my V-slides,,guess I better order some new ones soon huh? Anybody know if the Dr.Pulley V-slides are any good,,they are only $1 more than the stock stuff at gy6store?? Tom Hey JB! Going through my spare parts box and it turns out I did NOT toss the old Dr Pepper guides. Here - after about 2200 miles. though discolored a bit, otherwise look unchanged from new:

Still jealous of what you get to carry - openly - when you visit scary and dangerous parts of the town like Walmart.

I see verizon lowered their standards so that people in Adah could use their network. Tolerance is so sssspecial!

Have nothing to compare with, but have been using the Dr Pepper glides since the scoot had about 400 miles (now 2700). Because i was mucking around with variators I put a new set in that have been lying around forever - but the old Dr P ones didn't show any wear other than the normal blackened surface discoloration. Wish I had not tossed the old ones or I'd take a photo. Will they fit on a stock variator bro? If so I am going to order them today,,just for piece of mind. Sorry for the delay. The 3 glide plates I have all have identical cutouts for the glides. Any glide will fit in any one of the plates.

The only problem I've found with our Puerto Rico supplier is that for cheap items he does NOT ship Priority. So, for BBKs and the like you get used to really fast delivery (2 days to san diego, door to door) - but then he sends out a gasket set (or this time a pair of belts) and it seems to take forever.

Might have discovered the problem (not yet sure).
I used a mongrel variator assembly - Dr Pepper variator, but the GLIDE PLATE from the el Cheapo (it's got a larger diameter, so I thought the extra length would lead to more pressure against the variator and more top end.
I think the theory was correct (the thing was going faster Wed. evening than ever before). HOWEVER ~~~ the fingers of the glide plate were long enough to actually TOUCH the variator ramp! (the sliders were not large enough to keep it from hitting the ramp surface). When I took it apart Thurs am the sliders were all katty-whompus.
So I'm thinking -- maybe -- the variator got stuck in some open position with the sliders all askew, and this caused the belt to go nuts.
Anyway - I put the "OEM" glide plate back in and the 'weird clutch noise" is suddenly gone.
Maybe.

GEH! You might be right (about the clutch causing the belt pop)! So yesterday the kickstart shaft was rubbing against the bell - yanked the thing off so that's no longer an issue. But it DID bring my attention to the clutch ... And this morning I noticed the thing is making a strange "bearing" noise. It's like a raspy bearing scrape while idling. I don't know if it's always been that way - maybe with the CVT cover on (it's off now) the noise isn't loud enough to hear). But maybe - maybe - there IS a bad bearing - the thing locked up a few nights ago after the really hard riding I was doing, and THAT caused the belt to pop. I'd take a video to get the noise but we all know such noises do not come out well in videos .. Well, maybe I will try ... View My Video

That is funny!
Ordered a kevlar belt off your link. Thanks!
Yeah, I guess we all go through times when our machines have us beaten down ... this is just my time.
Rode the scooter 1/2 mile to the store to get a jug of ice cream. Have the cvt cover off so i can keep an eye on things. the idler gear of the kick starter is gone (never worked, so i removed it). As I pulled into the store I heard this weird noise coming from down/left. Stopped, looked down - the primary kick start lever had twisted and was rubbing against the clutch bell. Lucky the gear hadn't caught the belt, I guess. Anyway, so I ripped that out also.
Thought for a moment -- "maybe THAT is what caused the belt to pop!" ... but then i remembered 2 days ago when it popped I had the CVT cover on, not off.

Tried them but they have no Kevlar for a short case motor (like GY6).
Tried to turn my clutch and squeeze it, but the alarm was "on" and the FARKING air horns went off right into my ear. Totally deaf in one side now!
Anyway, I'm burned out on this stuff for the time being. After putting a new radiator, water pump (which required pulling the front section of the crankcase, since the pump goes on FROM THE INSIDE), thermostat, refilling all the fluids and starting it up I realized one of the head gaskets was blown (probably from when it overheated). Last 2 days pulling the heads on both sides, etc. Getting to HATE wrenches.
If this scooter belt breaks before the new ones arrive there will be a bonfire.
