crank !

That would help with the cold starts . I should have mentioned the only time I get the kickbacks and the starter clutch slippage " with the clank sounds " is during cold starts . after the engine warms up the scoot starts just fine and with a very quick push of the ignition. My question would be did the advance timing cdi with the bbk cause the starter clutch to start going bad which is now making noise on and off as the engine is running ? Actually i shouldn't ask if this is what's happening but if this could be what's happening and has anyone ever had this type of problem that you know of ? Also with the way the noise is coming and going does does it seem more like a crank issue or something else ? The problem is the only other thing it could be " considering where the noise is coming from " is the starter clutch . I know it will help out a lot when I get a video of the noise posted , so I'll try to get it recorded and posted sometime 2moro. I do appreciate all the replies and info all have given me and I know you can only help so much with the info I've given so far , so I'll be sure to get that vid up . I have a better idea bring your scooter to me , we can check it together . Bring a camera so we can share what we find . You could gamble with just a plug and play cdi , but I think your starter clutch is on the way out . John

The big bore kits create more compression so they make it harder to crank the engine over . Then you add the fixed advanced timing cdi . It takes its toll on the starter clutch every time you crank the engine over and it fires before tdc all the stress is on the starter clutch . Do you get kick backs while cranking to get it started ? I could be wrong here and it could be coming from the crank .

here is the mind blower : it is what you want it to be ! Bashin on doc did a full write up with illustration (I can't find the link) his scooter was a dc ignition system , he changed the stator and now can choose ac or dc cdi . He got several parts from me did a before and after . I will send him a message see if he can find it . John John, thanks, however I'm not interested in converting this scooter. All stators produce A/C, so yes it's possible, but the wiring for this scooter is setup for A/C. It currently uses an A/C CDI, so I need an 11 pole A/C stator kit. NOT a D/C stator and not one I have to convert. An A/C system powers the lights and they are activated the R/R, If I converted it, I would have to re-wire a bunch of extra stuff and add unnecessary work. If you don't know if it's A/C or D/C, that's fine.. But I am only interested in an A/C setup. D/C statorA/C stator
Take a closer look at the pics in the link , they are the same stator just photographed in a different position . You might want to ask the vendor to confirm that . AC/DCJohn

I have non stokers comming from China they are not branded NCY I will be checking them when they get here . I wonder if your cdi could be stressing you starter clutch .

My bet is the swing arm bearing is shot , if it is not how do you clean up the inner race anyway ? I know a guy that had a swing arm bearing problem , he replaced it his was a 250cc .

You might be able to open the cvt then the gear box and take the wheel with the axle from the gear box . I changed an axle in a reverse trike/buggie when I changed an engine . I don't remember how it came apart .

spray and work it , I wonder if the little bit of play is bearing play . Not bearing to shaft play .

I don't think he sprayed it . I can tell you when replacing motors without penetrating oil the pulley almost always breaks .

Please tell me you sprayed it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you get it off be sure to clean off the rust , best to polish the shaft then coat it with never seize or grease . This way it never happens . Since your beating it apart you need to check the bearing when it comes apart . That puts a lot of stress in ways it does not normally get .

take off the nut and spacer lean the bike to the left and spray penetrating oil on the axle and swingarm bearing .Tap it with a light hammer . Take your time with it let it soak a day or so and keep applying the penetration oil . The inner race maybe rusted to the axle .
