the transmission is ok because it works fine with the stock exhaust.
is it possible that i have to change the jet when i put on a new exhaust? because the jet should be doing more than 15mph, even if it is half of what the new exhaust needs, and it's only meant to be a 50cc exhaust?
it's something to do with the air ratio being disrupted by an exhaust change or the wrong exhaust resonance (it's making a vaccum at 70cc at the time of the 50cc explosion and erasing the compression and horsepower to 0.5 hp?) else if it's got some glass fiber stuck in it?

I found a gianelli exhaust for my scooter online, so i bought it, it looks nearly new, i fitted it to my scooter, and the speed stays at around 5-10mph, peaking at 15mph, while the RPM is on maximum.
It was well screwed onto the cylinder and the sound levels were fine.
What should i check to fix it? It seems it's either obstructed, else it's for 70cc and it is out of compression? the scoot works fine with a 50cc exhaust. will be glad for your help.

Resolved: It was a connector that had come off of the ignition key block and it was shorting when i went over bumps... .it worked fine until i went fast and then it cut out intermittently until it stopped.
don't know why a cable can pull out of the ignition block but that's what happened, i don't know why i didnt notice by moving the key around... i noticed because moving the front panel in a certain way would stop the bike from starting.

I checked the ignition capacitor, it was OK. The battery is low now, and there is no spark at all. I didn't change round the CDI box yet. I should do that next. other than that it's got to be the wiring or the roundey thing with the spools of copper around it. I'm figuring it's the CDI or the wires, will have it running again soon. Advantage is that i have a complete identical scooter to get parts from and it was working until the crank drive went out of line.

Perhaps the problem is related to spark timing?
It only starts on kickstarter,
It half runs with interrupting sparks at half speeds
i've checked the spark, carb, cylidnder, exhaust and have changed them all...
so am checking CDI problems now.

Thanks for the advice! What is the valve lash? i have a reed valve on it it's a 2 stroke. what is the ignition pickup? I'm going to disassemble the entire cylinder and valve and exhaust, it's a catalyzed exhaust with 10k miles on it and 3/8th inch output on it, i don't think it's great. I just bought it at 10k miles so it's a good idea to check out in the output from the cylinder to the exhaust is crusty. The spark plug came out fairly white so it seems it's burning quite hot. When it's running at higher revs and i bump the front wheel up and down to rattle the bike it tends to miss some cycles too, i don't know why.

The scooter was running along fine and suddenly, it stutters in between revs for 10 seconds and cuts out.
Whenever i turn up the throttle it runs too low on gas and goes silent.
It doesn't want to start with the ignition button, only the crank.
on low revs it idles very nicely, it's just when i turn the throttle.
I have changed the sparkplug and cleaned the carb and put in another carb, same problem.
it sounds a bit lean too and the first candle had white residue on it.
What can it be?

I figure that changing the engline block is very easy, it is only attached by a single rod at the front, which serves as a pivot for the suspension... Where can i find a guide with some info's?
I must detach:
1/carburetor connections 2/exhaust 3/rear brake cable 4/suspension 5/the metal rod that holds the engling block...
is that right?

I have a worn out disheveled Trekker Rally edition with great front and back suspension upgrades, it's awesome!
I want to buy another Peugeot where all the parts would be compatible, I am told Speedfight and Vivacity have compatible rear wheels, cylinder, motor, the springs should be ok on both?
The plastic fittings will all be different? should i definately wait for another peugeot trekker from around the same year because i am tempted for a Vivacity or a Speedfight scooter, i don't know what i'll miss out on, i figure so many spares will be incompatible.

20k miles sorry for vagueness, it's pretty good for a scooter. I found the keys again but i don't want to start the scooter because the previous had a bizarre crack consistent with impacting the top of the cylinder and it makes such a messed up sound i think i will damage the new piston if i try to run it for recording the sound. it makes two types of dodgy sound simultaneously including a rhythmic cracking sound and a random lateral vibration of the main engine :!!! catastrophic...
I'm searching for a scooter with as much part compatibility with especially because i have sports rallly suspensions on the damaged one, and i think awesome suspension is the best possible thing on a scooter.

It's my scooter... I still didnt find the keys, i must have been acting melodramatic when i heard it was messed up because i lost them in the house. There was crazy shuddering across all the crank zone/lower engine that slowed the revs down and the crack of bearings slipping in top of each other sry i can't record it without the keys ... still i got 32k from it ) it would be 50k if the crank doesnt give out.

Thanks, i don't know where i've put my keys... will send a video when i know.
because the piston hit the top of the cylinder lid and seems to have chipped, and the kickstarter spring is okay, i think it's serious.

Thanks for the brilliant suggestions!!!
I fixed the kick starter, but the engine sounds pretty wrecked.
Fixed the kickstarter spindle gear by oiling the friction zones which were clammy.
However... There's bad sounds coming from the engine, the revs are not regular because some kind of vibration/rattle is stopping it from turning perfectly, and there's a sound like a cracking plastic every 10 seconds irregularly, a bit like ball bearings grinding and popping, or any kind of metal clashing.
Could it be easy to fix?

For a month the kick starter spring was abit weak, it was not springing back very well.
Then I went for a ride and after one hour, the engine got jammed stuck. It turns out that a peice of aluminium as big as an aphid came off from the top edge of the piston and scraped inside the cylider.
I changed the top of the engine and I noticed that the kickstarter was stiff, taking about 40 pounds to turn around.
So i took off the top engine and tried the kickstart again, and it is indeed very stiff even with piston running without the cylinder.
What could be the trouble? the bike is a Peugeut Trekker that is about 20k miles.

Hi, Thanks, problem solved, the battery was just too low for the bike. with the motor running all the lights were working. The lights when from full on to nothing without going faded so i thought i had nuked all the electricals.
