I tried to adjust the carb in the manner you discibed, 1 turn out from the stop is where it likes it the best. My scoot runs fine, idles great rev good on center stand. I will try to geta video up on the engine hesitation and a ccomparison between my scoot and my daughters tomorrow.

Opened up the cvt and pulled the clutch apart everything is moving freely. Cleaned everything up and filled the slots with the pins with grease. Question, could my daughters scooter have a big bore kit installed without any other mods to it? How can I tell? I replaced the carb on her scooter with the stock carb with stock jets. No after market exhaust ot anything on hers.

if the carb is tuned properly then you'll have to change the variator weights. it's an easy process if you have an impact wrench and even easier if you have a tachometer. if you know your rpm's on take off and you know how heavy your current rollers are then buying replacements is a snap. for every gram heavier you can expect about 500 less rpm's on take off. so for example if your rpm's are at 5800 on take off with 8 gram weights then going down to 5 gram weights will bring your rpm's up about 1500 to put you in the power band. you want rpm's between 7200-7500 on take off for best acceleration. The weights are 5g as it is now, I should go lower?

I have a new vip 50cc scooter with 20km. The problem I had is my scooter is alot slower to take off from a light then my daughters scooter, which is the same scoot, just a 2011. So I replaced the carb from scrapydog so I could adjust a/f mixture screw. Installed the carb, scoot still had hesatation from idle to full throttle. Pulled the plug to see how it was burning at idle, plug was black. Did a plug chop and plug was white. Ordered 80 main jet (had a 75 in it stock) installed the jet, now main jet seems to be good. Idle jet is a 30 and it still seems to be running rich at idle. Mixing screw about 1 turn out, seems to be the only spot the the hesatation is at its minimum, but still very pronounced. Acceleration is little bit better but still very low, power is so low that I can hold back the scoot from moving with my feet on the ground.

This time of year check your tire pressure. Front and back. If it is low you are pushing the bike instead of rolling the bike. With small engines tire pressure means a lot. I also agree with the carb. How much of a weight difference between you and your daughter? This could be a little bit of why she is faster. Im 210,shes at 150.But even when i ride hers, its got so much more gogo then mine.

just bought a new 2013 vip 50cc scoot. My daughter has a 2011 vip scoot. We both have the same scooter, but hers is faster off the line and prolly 5 mph faster then mine. I checked the rollers on my scoot, 5g same as hers. as far as i can see everything is the same. My scoot is lacking so much power that when i take off i have to sometimes put my foot back down to prevent from falling over. last night we went to the store, stopped at a light with a small incline. It could barley get moving. Both scoots are stock, hers just has a carb that i bought from a scooter store, mine still has the sealed carb. Her scoot does have the no rev cdi,i don't think the no rev cdi would give her more power off the line then mine? Could the carb be causing my problem? I did check my spark plug after 20 miles on the clock and i could still see the white porcelain, just a little bit of grey on the plug.
