I think your correct with the 1E40QMB engine. Ill try moving the flywheel different directions and see if that one way gear engages and disengages. That may be my problem, if not it may be crankcase bearings.

Hello, I recently was given a nonworking scooter and am trying to fix it up. From what I know its a 2005 UM X-peed 50cc. The person who gave it to me says the motor wont turn over and maybe seized. I took it apart last night and discovered it was not seized, but it is very hard to turn. The top of the piston and the cylendar walls look good, but what concerned me was the starter gears and possbily the crank shaft bearings. My first question is, what model is this motor, and secondly how does the starter gearing work? I can see the starter gear does not retract, but is there a gear that is supposed spin or retact, or does it stay engaged? Thanks for the help!!
