My speedo/odo cable took a crap like 7k ago. Hoping it's just the cable again this time and not the dash. It looks fine by the wheel, I need to double check the cable on the dash end...
Who needs a speedometer after 9 years anyway? I just want the odometer working.

They showed a video of Daly the other day, him teeing off of a beer can..... of course he drank the rest of it before it all spilled out. He probably still hit it farther and straighter than most people, lol.

Scrappydogscooters is the only other active member here I can think of that is located/works in Vegas. Not sure if anyone knows Jerryscript here, but if I was 007...
People can use different emails for different forums, too. Maybe try messaging/emailing him on another forum, because this may not be his primary email here. Probably not, but might be worth a shot.

Well it seems either there is too much liquid in there or something else is causing a lot of pressure in the gearbox all of a sudden, to spew it out that hole-- whatever that could even be.
Either way, the oil doesn't look right, imo. With that being said, would a partially clogged breather cause that to spew out like that?

Is that gear oil synthetic?
I normally use synthetic gear oil, but once I didn't and went a really long time without changing it, it looked pretty funky. I can't remember exactly what it looked like, but it looked bad. Maybe change it more if it's not synthetic?
If you google "milky grey gear oil", you'll find posts/threads (esp for marine vehicles) talking about water in the gear oil.

Yeah, I wrapped the wire around the spring and it works.

I noticed on my other headlight assembly (I have 2 complete assemblies), that the black ground (black instead of all green like the other one) wire is wrapped around the spring that is inside the socket. Maybe I should try that? It isn't grounded the same as the other socket set. I'd use that assembly but it's connections weren't soldered worth of crap, and pulled out. Plus one light was extremely dim so something was jacked up (probably poor soldering), and that's why I swapped out just the old wires/sockets and put them on the new assembly.

Have any advice on how to fix this? The plug that held the ground's eye connector doesn't seem to come out, or I'd just easily replace the connector. Can I just ground it to the other socket ground wire, or is that a no-no? Both socket grounds meet together to form one of the three wires in the male connecting plug. Electrical is not my strong point, lol.

It was nice here, too. In the low 60s I think. I'll ride to work every day as long as it's not below 35-40 at night. I used to ride the appox 10 miles to work in much colder temps, but I'd rather be able to see through my face shield (rather than flip it up) and not worry about glazed roads or deer, or the combo of all three. Plus, I don't have to ride it anyway.
There was only a period of 10-14 days in a row this winter that I didn't at least ride to the store or gas station. I may not ride to work in below freezing weather, but I don't mind it if it's to the store or the nearby gas station. Prefer not to, but sometimes I do.
Honestly, I'm probably warmer riding with the wind chill with me all bundled up, than the average Joe wearing just a winter jacket taking a walk, at least for a handful of miles anyway.
I haven't had to worry about any of that lately, lol.

Man, here in Indiana we'll wind up with about 10 or so days in the 50s-60s, in a row. Rode the scoot to work the last couple weeks, for the most part.
You'd think it's April.
It wouldn't surprise me if we get a blizzard in a few weeks. Heck, December was probably the coldest month here, this winter.

^ Thanks man!
I started off on a "Yahoo Group" for Tank scooters, then scooterforumonline, and then finally signed up to scootdawg. I wound up signing up to scooterdoc and scooterrebels several years ago, but I never post there. I pretty much only post here anymore, and maybe a couple times a year at 49ccscoot. All different usernames in the forums, too. I never really thought about using the same username all across the boards. I would now probably.
The first 3-4 years of me having this scoot, I was obsessively checking scooter forums all the time. Not as much anymore after all the knowledge I've gained over the last, nearly nine years. I do check this forum everyday for the most part.
I will say the forums have helped me pretty much with anything and everything I've ever needed. It's really crazy to think about where I was when I first got my scoot and where I'm at now. I made a thread here and on scootdawg about what this scoot taught me, and how it carried over to other things in life.
It's fun to look back on older posts sometimes. I wish scooterforumonline was still up because I posted there a lot, and it'd be a laugh to go through my "beginner" posts. (Not that I'm a pro, lol)

I wouldn't even say you have to be "mechanically inclined" when looking into a Chinese scooter (specifically). I'd say "physically able and more than half a brain" (maybe not "more than 1/2 a brain", just some common sense and willingness to learn) that can afford a few new tools here and there. I know there are always exceptions. Some people just can't do certain things and that's understandable, but I believe most people CAN--especially with a little encouragement, which I've seen in the forums many times!
Really all you need to do is a little searching (most people today know how-- especially the younger generation) for a repair manual, know how to use a wratchet and a screwdriver, maybe an impact wrench.
Almost anything you want to know about Chinese scooters is online. It really isn't hard to find scooter forums either, because probably any issue you search for will show up the first page and from a scooter forum.
As a matter of fact, I'd even say if you want to be more "mechanically inclined" then buy a Chinese scooter, because you will have to work on it. It's not rocket science, especially when all the information is right in front of you, and a lot of it is well layed out and organized.
It's really more about the person and how far they are willing to go to gain the knowledge that is out there already and put it to use. I've seen quite a few people come to the forums that have "worked on bikes and cars their whole life" stumped by a Chinese scooter. It happens to a lot of people, and there is nothing wrong with it, imo. We all learn together from other people's problems here anyway.
I'm sure most of us didn't initially sign up to a scooter forum to "hang out", lol. Sooner or later most people will get stumped (I have many times) but like I said earlier, there is lots of help and info out there.
Take away the internet, that's another story.
