skuttadawg: was looking at a two stroke but didn't know if I could trust powersportsmax
scootnwinn: I guess I didn't look hard enough. But I'm hesitant to get an older scooter because I don't know how they were treated. and really don't know much about fixing scooters/autos or inspecting them on pick up.

but I guess my logic is if it's new then I can replace parts and add mods and still be under a grand. Whereas with one of the above I'd be well over 1k and I could be in a worse spot out of the box. But I guess how bad can bad get with a used vespa? Like worse case scenario would I have to put in a thousand to get it running?

Aside from the hassle in removing the plastics could I sill mod the cy50? I mean I don't mind a little work unless you mean "pain" as in " you will most likely break your scooter".
and as far as your other suggestions are they all the same except for body/look?

I'm 5'9"... I just didn't like the look of the ATM thought it looked too pizza delivery boyish but that's just my view.
But would go that route if the CY can't be modded.
Does anyone know if there's a diff between the CY50 and the "Venus"?

Hi, I live in Cambridge, MA. I've decided to buy a taotao CY50 just based on cost. Would take a ruckus but at $3k I find myself in motorcycle territory at that pricepoint. I found this: www.powersportsmax.com/product_info.php/cPath/38_93/products_id/14682and want to pull the trigger. But they get bad reviews. Anyone know of a reputable website to get this? also don't like that they don't specifically say GY6 motor. Also, can anyone redirect me to mods for the CY50? I'm about 200lbs and would commute to work if I feel safe on it. Or rather safe enough. Just local roads at 30mph but there's a pretty steep hill right before I hit my office. I'm in for dropping another $200 on mods. if anyone can point me to threads on the taotao CY50 specific mods I'd be grateful. Thanks! |
