my wife`s vip is at 51mph on GPS, we did the following to it, 50mm bbk, cam, KN type airfilter, exhaust, coil, cdi, rejetted, 5g sliders, 1k spring in rear variator, timing advances by slotting holes on magnetic pickup, compression raised, no base gasket, bigger OD rear tire(had to grind part of engine cases away to get it to fit, weight reduction, took out kickstarter and other item not needed to lose weight. I have an Aprilia SR50 and she walks me from a standing start 51, wow! How big of a tire did you manage to squeeze on there? My scoot came stock with / /12s on it. When the rear needed replacing, I didn't think it through very well and ordered a 110/100/12 to replace it. That was massive! So tall that I didn't even attempt to install it on the rear. I put it on the front and ordered another 120/70/12 to put on the rear, which is still a good bit taller than the original.

Mine does 43 on the flats with the mods listed in my signature. I don't really plan to do any more to it, because I'm perfectly happy with it now and don't really want to go much faster on this small frame and 12" wheels.

I have a / /12 tire with plenty of tread left if anyone wants it. It's a Jinchi brand. Nothing special, but if money is tight and you need a tire, it's perfect! I'll even cover shipping within continental US.

Sounds to me like you need a bigger idle jet.

I love my Chinese scooter.
As far as I'm concerned, it could expolode tomorrow and I'd feel I'd gotten my money's worth.
But, I very much doubt that it will. I suspect it will keep on running just fine for another few years.
I've had it for 2.5 years, just about 4000 miles, and have had zero mechanical problems with it.
I've replaced the belt once, a couple spark plugs, a fuel filter, a couple turn signal bulbs, and just put a new set of tires on it.. Regular maintenance stuff that any machine requires. Gonna need a set of brake pads up front pretty soon. Dang, there goes another 5 bucks.
I'm a tradesman, and understand the concept of buying quality tools once VS buying junk over and over. But, in some cases it just doesn't make sense. A 50 cc air cooled engine is never going to be a tool that lasts a lifetime.
It cost me just about $1000 brand new, plus about $350 in mods, and will outrun any stock Honda Ruckus that cost 2x as much.
