Simply put, what kind of stator goes on a TaoTao 50cc scooter? How many wires. I need to get a new one, but I'm waiting on an impact wrench in the mail and can't remove it. Or, is there a way I can remove the thing before it without turning it? Maybe send me a link to a good one from scrappy dog?

Sorry, I was wrong. Pilot is a #38, and main is a # . I'll definitely check the valve adjustments. I just had to but a new rocker assembly because the stock shattered at a mounting point because I overtightened it. Makes sense. Is an good enough, or should I think about getting the ? I hear it's a guzzler? True? Not that it really matters, I drove a '78 Ford Club Chateau E350 with a 460 and a 4 barrel Holley. Anything is gas efficient at this point.

Alright guys, help me out. So,I got the jets, a #38 main and a #78 pilot. Installed them onto my carb and reinstalled it. Now, it backfires quite a bit. The idle speed is about 1 full turn below clutch engaging a causing the rear tire to spin. Check me if I'm wrong, here. The air/fuel mixture screw is 2 and 1/2 turns out. It'll start, but I have to keep gassing sometimes, even after the engines warms up. Sometimes, after a longer stretch, when I come to a stop, it dies. I noticed that the hose that goes to the diaphragm from the valve cover breather, or whatever it is, has a lid that pops off after revving it or riding for a while. When the engine is cold, it won't start unless I pull it off. I thought that I'd remove the whole thing, plug the outlet hole and plug the port at the intake, but the once it starts, it dies right off. I put it back on, and it started back. The power in the engine just pops that lid right off. What could be the problem here? Is there a specific way to install the jets? I also think that my starter bendix is going out. Sometimes the gear box locks up like a dead battery but the battery reads 13.17 volts. I'm confused. If I plug it up to a charger, it cranks. So, could the battery be bad or the charging system. I think it's the bendix. Any ideas? This crappy Chinese scoot will be all new parts eventually. I wish I had the cash for a new scooter, but I'm grateful for what I have. It's better than walking.

Alright! I bought my new jets, and I'm excited. Now, another question. Since I have a second carb sitting around, which is unfortunately, another stock, how do I get the fuel bowl off without stripping the screws. Does it have locking screws or washers? If so, how do I remove them? Thanks for the help, guys.

So maybe the lean gas is overheating the engine? I thought that might be it since it starts back after it cools down. Thanks for the reply.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum. I have been browsing around for a while now and now I am in need of help. I am no mechanic, by any means, but I am not incompetent to read instructions but being that I don't know anyone that knows about engines and all that, I am getting irritated. First off, I installed the 100cc bbk, or whatever it really is, 82, 83, whatever onto my 50cc Taotao, alongside with a new racing cdi, high flow air filter and spark plug. It took me once, twice and even that third attempt before I got a quality bbk. Now it runs! I get a top speed of around 45mph to 50mph, not reading in kph. Read it with a gps speedometer on my phone. It handles nice, and I plan to upgrade more as time goes by until all of the Chinese crap parts are gone, leaving Japanese, Taiwanese and American parts. My issues is that everyday, I get on it, start it up and go for a ride, and after about ten miles, or less, I pull into my driveway, turn it off and it won't start again until it cools down. Maybe 5 to 10 minutes. It really sucks when I make it to the gas station and have to wait after refueling. I thought I had a cracked air hose, nope. Maybe it was dead battery? Nah. After removing the stock airbox, I was left with an air hose open from the valve cover, so I put the air box back on and reconnected it. Still the same. I still have the stock carb on it and I thought maybe that was it, as it hasn't been re jetted yet, nor have I installed a new performance variator or installed the 5 gram roller weights that came with the kit cause I don't have an impact wrench. As I said, I'm gonna get it all going, just takes cash that I don't have at the moment. Any ideas on what might be causing it to not start back up? I understand it is a scooter so please don't remind me. I'm not rich, and I deal with what I have. Thanks in advance. Oh yeah, timing is correct, gaps are correct. And I'm sorry if this is not the right place. I read forums, rarely do I start threads outside of facebook.
